The gift of a newborn is a blessing no matter how you look at it. Loving parents understand the new responsibilities of caring for a baby, with all that entails. One of those responsibilities is ensuring that your baby has a safe and nurturing home environment, including a nursery room dedicated to their needs.

Smart Nursery Setups Make Life Easier
Taking care of a baby can feel overwhelming, so when parents have opportunities for better managing all the physical aspects of having a new baby in the house (think diapers, clothing, skin care, wellness products, and more), things can go along just a little more smoothly in the nursery.
Managing Baby Accessories
Just like all the other odds and ends we humans accumulate in our homes, baby accessories can create clutter if not stored well. Everything from pacifiers to headbands to stray baby socks can end up here and there, hard to find, or somehow invisible when we need to rush out the door.
No matter what size room your baby’s nursery is in, maximize storage by choosing functional furniture that has built-in drawers, cubbies, and shelves. You’ll feel more in control of the chaos when everything has a place.
Take things one step further by printing off pretty labels to place on the outside of storage spaces so babysitters, grandparents, and siblings can easily help out without having to constantly ask where to find this or that.
Make Life Less Complicated
It’s hard enough to keep up with your own life’s demands, so when baby comes along, find ways to make life less complicated and reclaim personal time so you can spend it on things you enjoy.
One way to save time and money running errands is with diaper subscription services. Have essentials like diapers and wipes delivered to your door to skip emergencies when diapers run out.
Create a Soothing Environment
Your baby’s nursery can be aesthetically pleasing, just as the rest of your home you’ve thoughtfully designed. With some pro designer tips, your nursery can look and feel like the soothing environment it should be, no matter what your budget is.
Opt for a neutral color palette. That’s not the same as monochromatic. For example, a blend of sage green, beige, and salmon works for both baby girls and baby boys. Visit a paint store and experiment with free paint cards to create a soothing palette that you like. After all, babies do respond to primary colors.
Consider one accent wall, visible from the crib, with some sort of design. You could use peel and stick floral wallpaper, or wallpaper with some scene on it. There are also some very lovely vinyl wall stickers you could try. These are all affordable and easy to implement ideas.
Used baby diapers don’t belong in a regular trash can, where the odor can escape into the room. Invest in a good odor-catching diaper bin. And speaking of odor, with your pediatrician’s input, consider some kind of scent diffuser for a relaxing vibe. Lavender, lemon verbena, and other essential oils can help to calm and soothe your precious young one.
Finally, as far as design, curtains make much warmer window treatments than blinds or shades. Create layers with two curtain rods – one for sheers and one for room darkening curtains. You can spruce up and personalize plain, store-bought ones by adding frills, lace, or a few iron-on appliqués suitable for the nursery.
Have at least two seating options in the nursery. A reclining rocker works like magic on a fussy baby or a sleepy mom feeding baby in the middle of the night. The other chair is for the support person. Maybe it’s a parent keeping company, an interested sibling eager to spend time with mother and child in the nursery, or simply a chair for the giant teddy bear that grandpa gifted your little one.
The best nursery room is one that feels good to be in; everyone benefits when your baby’s nursery is both stylish and functional.
