Hello World! The house I am showing you today just happens to be my favorite house in Galveston. And, to top it off, she is on the market. The pictures today will be a mixture of my own as well as pictures from the listing.
Welcome to the Yellow House:
This is the Waters Davis home built in 1868 and is graciously situated on the corner of 24th Street and Avenue L in Galveston, Texas.
These pictures are from the listing which were taken quite a while back. The house has been on the market for some time and the outside needs some freshening up and the foliage needs a good trimming. The above picture is one of the entrances to the house.
Here’s how she looks today. This side of the house also has another grand entrance to the left of the steps.
The original hitching posts are still on the property. They are in very good shape, but could use a good cleaning and a couple of rings should be replaced. There are 4 hitching posts in total for the house. Two are located at each entrance to the house.
The foliage needs to be trimmed back to really let the house shine.
Just look at the wonderful woodwork.
Here is the side of the house with the gazebo. As you can tell, she needs a good paint job and all of the shutters should probably be replaced.
Isn’t she grand with her lovely trees surrounding her? Couldn’t you imagine sitting on that porch sipping tea and watching the world go by?

The main foyer. The floors, wall, and moulding on the interior look to be in pretty good shape.

Looking back towards the entrance. Through the window you can see the wrought iron gate.
The chandeliers are amazing.
Looking into the formal living area. This is situated at the front corner of the house.

The beautiful door straight ahead is another entrance.
The rooms are quite large and have such a good flow. I could throw some really good gatherings in a place like this!
Another sitting area. Looking through the window, you can see the gazebo just outside.
Upstairs landing.
The house is 5,510 sq. ft. on a corner lot that is 19,513 sq. ft. in size. She has 4 bedrooms and 4 full bathrooms, and 8 fireplaces! And, she has a pool! She is currently on the market for $675,000.
This yellow beauty is just one of the many houses that survived the Great Storm of 1900. It looks as if her current owners kept the integrity of the house intact. Hopefully, the new owners will do the same.

This is a beauty and I do remember this home. I've been inside so many of these historic beauties but not this one. Hope some one buys with with lots of money and can keep it up the way it deserves to be kept! Thanks for these memories!
