Hello World! Welcome Friends! Attending a crafts fair like chicago rental exhibit is a lot of fun as a buyer. You can find all kinds of knick knacks and new home pieces, soft furnishings, photo frames, and cutesy items like cosies for lunch boxes or water bottles, and those are all lovely to come home with! But as a seller, it can be an anxiety inducing event.
Who will come to your stall? Are your items good enough? Have you prepared yourself enough to make a profit on the day? Well, the first two things we can’t quite help with, but we can make sure you’re ready to be the best stall of the entire event! Here’s everything you need to know about being a first time vendor.
Talk to Other Vendors
Even when you’re running a home based or online business, you need to have a network. And the same goes for when you’re a crafts company looking to trade in person. You need to talk to people who have been in your position, as well as other vendors that are going to the same show you are.
You’re all small business owners together, and you can have some very sage advice for each other. If you’re nervous, they should be your first port of call – ask them how it works, what goes on, and how to deal with hagglers and potentially difficult customers!
Put Your Booth Together
Now it’s time to decide what your ‘booth’ is going to look like. You’ll need a couple collapsible tables at the very least, as well as something comfy to sit down on when people aren’t milling around. You’ll also want a backdrop for your stall, lighting (RGB LEDs work well here), and relevant design items to catch the eye.
Something sparkly if that’s your personality, or bold colors that you’re known for in your product designs. You can also set up posters and pop-out cardboard stands if you’d really like, so make sure to keep an eye on the weather if you’re going to be outside!
Be Prepared to Take Multiple Payments
You never know if a customer will have cash on them or not. So make it easy to accept payments and take a smart payment terminal along with you as well. You could even accept Paypal transactions via mobiles – just make sure this is clearly signposted on your stall front. And always have some spare cash and change under the table, just in case someone needs you to break a $20 over something that only costs $4.99!
Have Promotional Items
Promotional items allow people to know your name and contact details. Now these can be as simple as handing out business cards with every purchase, but you can also hand out stickers, buttons, and lanyards if you’d like. Make it a bit more exciting and people are more likely to hang onto your details!
Attending a crafts fair as a vendor should be simply exciting. Use our guide above to get started.
