Hello World! Welcome Friends! Up-cycling is where you reinvent unwanted, old materials and transform them into something useful. It may be for business purposes, a hobby or a cost-effective way for you to improve your home. There are certainly a lot of items that we just don’t need anymore. You may question whether it’s actually necessary to up-cycle? It can sometimes be seen as unnecessary, wasteful and time consuming. Dumping your clutter isn’t always the healthiest way to manage your waste for the environment.

Have a look below at some of the reasons why it’s a good idea to practice upcycling:
It Conserves the Environment
It’s no secret that upcycling has the potential to massively reduce the amount of waste dumped at landfills. Some waste materials involve chemicals that can cause soil degradation. They’re even more risky if they find their way into water bodies as it can lead to water pollution. A landfill full of our dumped waste is also a terrible eyesore. Solid waste is proven to cause not only water pollution but it also causes air pollution, not to mention the terrible smell from all the decomposition. Burning may seem like the next best solution for managing our waste, however, it can lead to even further air pollution from the gases created during combustion. This is why upcycling is a great way for us to minimizing this while managing our waste.
Helps to Conserve Limited Resources
All you have to do is think about the amount of wood that we use as a society, and then you will quickly realize the amount that we are wasting. This is especially true if you’re dumping things like furniture. It doesn’t only apply to wood, but also various other precious items who’s supply is slowly diminishing. If we upcycle we are eliminating the need for raw, fresh materials that are needed to manufacture goods which ultimately looks after our environment. Next time you’re thinking about throwing something out think about what you could turn it into and help reduce the need to trees to be cut down.
Creativity and Innovation
You will find that every piece of upcycled product is unique and stylish. This is because no two pieces turn out the same. Whether you’re painting a piece of furniture with paint or using Old masters stains to improve a wooden piece of work you are bound to create something that stands out. It can take a lot of creativity to design and meaningful item from your waste. This method of waste management allows you to be free with your creativity and intuition. What’s even better is you can get the whole family involved. Children love to help pick and choose different designs for the piece in their room. If you’re stuck for ideas, platforms such as Pinterest hold some great ideas to get you started, they often include step by step guides to guide you through.
