Hello World! Welcome Friends! There are several different types of roofing to choose from. The type that is best for your home depends on a number of things. Firstly, which type can you afford? In terms of style, stone, clay, composite and ceramic are the most popular. The design is also important, but it will be influenced a lot by your roof design and structure. The color and the density are also things to consider, as you want a roof that fits the style of your exterior, i.e. cladding and siding. Let’s now take a look at these options.
Composite Tiles
By far the most popular in terms of affordability and toughness is the asphalt or composite material. This type of material can make for excellent tiles or seams that can fit incredibly tight together. This is something that can be noticed by the work of MasterPro Roofing Solutions. They use modern composites, which offer water resistance and wind resistance, all the while not weighing a lot. The lightness of the materials also means your roof’s structure will not be under any undue stress. It’s a tried and tested roofing style that looks great on a home that has a dark exterior or would like a two-toned look.
Ceramic Tiles
These are the most modern options. They lay much flatter than clay tiles and because of the finish ceramic tiles have, they are waterproof. Unlike clay tiles that will erode after 20-30 years and need to be replaced one by one, ceramic tiles have a life expectancy of 60 years. If fitted well, these will only need to be replaced after 50 years. Ceramic tiles also fit flatter so they present a sleeker profile of your roof. It also means they are much more wind-resistant than clay tiles. So if you live in an area where there are winds or storms, ceramic tiles are less likely to make noise from the wind shear.
Clay Tiles
These are the tried and trusted. Modern clay tiles can last 20-30 years and if they have been fitted correctly, it may be up to 40 years. However, clay tiles usually only have one style. Clay tiles are humped for excellent rainwater drainage and they usually dry into a bright or dull orange. Clay tiles are great for brick homes, perhaps not so much for homes made out of wood. This is why you see clay tiles in Europe more often than in North America. They are the most affordable and that’s perhaps their best selling point.
Timber Tiles
Timber tiles are great for homes that have a traditional look. A wooden roof is actually quite strong because the wooden tiles are nailed down onto each other in layers. They can also be shaped into a square or rounded shape to present a brilliant style. If they get shaped, they can be more or equally expensive as composite tiles. You’ll see quaint rounded teardrop tiles on classic homes that you find in northern European countries like the Netherlands.
The roof is one of the most important parts of your home both structurally and stylistically. So whichever you choose, the tile and type of roof you decide on will reflect your home as a whole.
