Hello World! Welcome Friends! Whether it’s a full-scale home remodel or a renovation of one room in your property, you’ll end up with lots of stuff that needs to be moved out of the way. Already, the task is harder as you have to work around all your personal items while ensuring they don’t get in the way – or get damaged by any contractors that are coming and going.
So, what should you do with all your stuff during a home renovation? There are a few options that will help you out, and you can pick the right one based on which one makes the most sense for you:
Throw Your Stuff Out
In some cases, throwing your stuff out will be the best course of action. This is particularly true in instances where you are replacing the same stuff with newer versions. For example, you’re renovating your living room and you have old rugs and sofas that you’re not keeping. Part of the renovation includes bringing new stuff in, so you can throw this old stuff away. In fact, whenever you renovate part of your home, you should look at the room and consider what you should and shouldn’t keep. Anything that no longer serves a purpose can be thrown out, giving you one less thing to worry about during the renovation.
Put Your Stuff in Storage
Alternatively, if you have loads of furniture and personal items that you’re keeping, you may consider putting them in storage. Now, the average storage unit cost can vary depending on where you live and how much floor space you require. Nevertheless, this could be an affordable and convenient option for you to think about. It enables you to remove everything from your home, getting it out of your way. At the same time, it’s in a safe location and you can pick it up whenever you’re ready. This is a great idea when renovating bedrooms and you need to move all the furniture out to redo the flooring and walls, but you intend to keep it all.
Move Your Stuff to a Different Room
This is another alternative if you can’t afford to place your stuff in a storage unit – or there simply isn’t one nearby. It’s not the most ideal, and it relies on your home having extra space to store items. If you have an attic or garage, you can move things into them temporarily while the renovation work is carried out. Yes, it’s more convenient as you can just move it all back without going to a storage unit and loading up your car or a truck. However, as just mentioned, it’s only an option for people with enough space in their home to be able to move stuff around and keep it in different rooms/areas.
Look at these three options and consider which ones are the best for you. In reality, most of you will throw some of your stuff out during a renovation as it is being replaced. For anything that’s left, decide if storage units or home storage are best.
