Hello World! Welcome Friends! There is a huge drive going on in the political work at the moment about becoming more sustainable. Over the next few decades, big changes are going to happen that affect us all in relation to sustainability. However, there are many with we can do as individuals now to help reduce our carbon footprints and help with this global endeavor. You may well be recycling already, a lot of people are, but there are also several other easy measures you can make today that will make you more eco-friendly:
Install Solar Panels
As the world intends to use less and fewer fossil fuels, it may prove difficult, at least initially, to generate all the electricity a country needs. The cost of electricity may increase, and there could be scheduled brownouts. However, if you invest in solar panels, you can help mitigate this risk. First, you can produce electricity for your own home, at least during daylight hours, so you are not pulling energy from the grid. Also, on very sunny days when your panels are creating a lot of energy, you can even sell this back to the grid. So you are helping reduce the problem and make it more manageable while making money too.
Your Washing Machine
You can save a lot of energy and money by changing the way you use your washing machine. It is recommended that you wash on a cold wash. This is the most sustainable way to wash clothes. However, by decreasing the temperature from 105°F to 90°F, for example, you can make a huger different too. Additionally, stop washing half loads and avoid using tumble driers. These things will reduce your electricity consumption.
Servicing
It is very important that you have a regular boiler and air conditioning service. By doing this, you will ensure that your heating and cooling systems are working to their optimum level and not wasting any energy. You will also discover any potential issues before they become problems which can save you money too.
Energy-Efficient Lighting
One of the first things you should do is maximize the natural light that comes into your home. This can have s many benefits from reducing your electricity bill on lighting, and it can also enhance your mood. You can do this in many ways, such as ensuring no large objects are blocking the windows, you can use mirrors to rebound light, and you can remove any large dark curtains that do not open fully to maximize the light. You could also have a skylight installed. Then you need to change all your light bulbs to energy-efficient and LEDs.
Use Eco-Friendly Products
When you go shipping for products, namely cleaning products and also hygiene products, try and ensure that you are purchasing eco-friendly ones. A lot of cleaning products are created with harsh and harmful chemicals that are polluting and damaging to the environment, including the air you breathe. There are so many eco-friendly alternatives. So, instead of buying your usual brand on autopilot, take a look for something more sustainable.
