Hello World! Welcome Friends! Our prime attention should be on taking preventive measures to control water damage. Alas! Accidents may occur anytime. Such damages have very high repair costs, and they even lead to mold formation. Mold formation can destroy the entire structural integrity of the kitchen furniture and surfaces and lead to severe health disorders also. We must not be ignorant and quickly approach the plumber if the damage is beyond the scope of a plumber, we must instantly contact a water damage company, to avoid the damage from turning irreparable. Water damage looks easy to handle but may have grave consequences. It may affect lives as if the water source is a drain; it may carry disease-causing pathogens and lead to infections.
Widespread Causes of Water Damage in the Kitchen:
- Pluming failure is one of the prime causes of water damage in the kitchen; it is generally caused due to bursting of a pipe or overflowing of the sink, etc.
- The dishwasher should not be left unattended when it is working, at regular intervals, we must keep checking its flow.
- The kickplate of the dishwasher should be checked for water once or twice a year.
- Clean the filter of the dishwasher regularly, if there is any malfunction, get the filter replaced.
- If there is water clogging encountered in the drainage pipe of the dishwasher, get it cleaned or replaced.
- Before putting the dishes into the dishwasher, try to remove the food leftovers so that no blockage is caused.
- Make sure that you have closed the door of the dishwasher tightly, recheck it every time you start the machine.
- We must make sure that we don’t drain Fats, Oils, and Grease as they are significant contributors to drain and sewer backups. Maintain a separate tank or jar for the collection of FOGs.
- If you have a refrigerator, be alert when there is a power failure or when you are defrosting it, so that the water from it doesn’t leaks and spreads all over.
- Regularly check the caulk of your sink, if it is deteriorated, get it replaced. Clean it frequently to avoid any blockage.
- In case you notice any cracks or bubblings on the pipes, immediately call a plumber. Any ignorance may cause bursting of the pipe and may worsen the situation.
- Keep an eye on the walls; they should not contain any moisture signs.
- Be vigilant when you are carrying out the defrosting process; try to clear the water with a wiper and a cloth.
- Water meters and sensors can be installed for safety.
- Do not leave small children unattended for a long time; they may play with the appliances or taps.
