Hello World! Welcome Friends! Your wedding is a celebration of you and your partner, a day to showcase your personality as a couple. As time passes, fewer and fewer couples are nixing tradition and opting for a different kind of wedding than their parents had.
Food and Drink
Feeding and providing alcohol for guests is and always has been one of the most important parts of any wedding. While most soon-to-be married couples hire a caterer to feed their guests, others are choosing different methods to do this.
- Have you ever heard of restaurant-delivery apps? If your wedding is small and intimate, you might check the website of one of your favorite restaurants and see what it would cost for a group meal.
- Food trucks are a diverse and fun catering method. You can feature tacos, hamburgers, shish kabobs and more on your wedding day!
- Instead of serving alcohol at your wedding (and avoiding an embarrassing speech from your best man), have a juice bar. You can have options like lemonade, sweet tea, cranberry juice and ginger ale. Not only is this friendly for all ages, but it is also more cost-effective too.
Let Them Eat…Dessert?
Wedding cakes are an old, old custom that dates back to ancient Greece, but today many couples are choosing to have no cake at all. Whether this is to preserve money or simply because the couple prefers something else, some alternative to wedding cakes include:
- Cupcakes, often frosted with the wedding colors and decorated with sugar flowers. Why have one big cake when everyone can have their own mini cake?
- A dessert bar featuring many different kinds of treats, from brownies to lemon squares.
- Pie. Yes, pie! Guests were served bride’s pie in early weddings, so this is actually not too far off the mark.
Sunday Best
Wedding attire is also another evolving custom in the world of weddings. Brides aren’t always wearing white and the wedding party doesn’t look like a group of clones. Consider switching things up. Having a wedding planning Toronto makes the preparation less stressful.
- Pick a wedding color and have your bridesmaids wear dresses in a style they love, but in that color. That way everyone looks cohesive but wears a dress they’re comfortable in.
- Let your groomsmen show their personalities by letting them wear goofy socks of their choosing.
- Instead of the groom wearing black and the bride wearing white, pick wedding clothes that you love and are comfy in! Remember that it’s your day and you’re the one who will be looking at the pictures in years to come.
If you’re in the stages of planning your wedding, think about some unconventional choices. You can still honor tradition, but you can also turn it on its head.

I enjoyed your post. My daughter and fiance are getting married in their back yard in Sept. They have named the home “Second Chance Farm” as it is the second marriage for them both and several of their animals are rescues! They are doing it on a tight budget; I enjoyed your ideas; she has already incorporated several of them.

You are right! Wedding cakes are an old, old custom that dates back to ancient Greece, but today many couples are choosing to have no cake at all. Whether this is to preserve money or simply.i have to suggest spent money in a unique venue location that type of place’s picture is memorable for you. Thanks for sharing!

I love wedding cake! But a lot of couples in the UK have started to look at alternatives. Donuts are becoming quite popular.
