Hello World! Welcome Friends! Certain kinds of roof damage are distinctly evident. Hence, they are attended as soon as they are noted. Roof leaks, cracks, and punctures disintegrated shingles are spotted easily, and therefore we can get them fixed quickly. Sadly, the less evident issues are missing granules on the edges of the roof shingles or deposition of lichens and moss.
Let’s Go Through the Types of Room Damage That Are Commonly Encountered:
Shingle Blistering, Shingle Loosening, Missing Shingles, or Curling of Shingles
Due to poor ventilation or excessive heat, premature deterioration of the roofing system takes place, which causes blistering of the shingle. Missing shingles should be fixed as soon as possible, as they might lead to grave roof damage. Shingles may even get curled; we should get them replaced if this happens. Shingles curl in two ways; the edges of the shingles may turn upward or clawing of shingles may occur when the sides of the shingles stay flat while the center area begins to come up.
Roof Damage Due to Moisture
Moisture has always been unpleasant news for shingles. Many problems may lead to moisture damage, including cracks, loose tiles, torn underlayments, failed sealants, etc. The experts from The Woodlands Roofing can explain how moisture can be destructive for your entire home. Moisture is very inviting for pests and may cause rot, decay, moss, mildew, and weaken the structural integrity. Stained ceiling and walls are common signs of moisture. However, moisture damage can occur much before these signs appear.
Cracks and Punctures
Though cracks and punctures are closely related to moisture damage, they tend to have some preventable causes. Poor installation or maintenance is one of the prime reasons for cracks and holes. Some parts of our roof is very delicate, and improper use of tools and machinery may damage them as they may cause puncturing of seals, tear underlayments and crack the flashing. Heavy flying debris that occurs during a windstorm may cause punctures to the roof. After experiencing heavy storms, we must check our roof for damage.
Ponding Water
It is common in cases of flat rooftop styles and rare otherwise. A flat roof must be vigilantly angled and appropriately sealed if you want to avoid water accumulation during rainfalls. The collection of water during rain is a sign that your roof is damaged.
Obsolete Roofing Materials
When the materials have been overused, they turn fragile and become vulnerable to breakage. Piles of shingle granules, bare, greyed-out shingles, rust, and moss signify that the material needs to be replaced. A professional inspection can be arranged between two to five years to avoid massive damage at once.
The Weakening of the Structure
Structural damage occurs when the support framework under your roof shakes or shifts. This is a very serious issue and may lead to the collapsing of the roof.
Fungal Damage
Generally, regions that have humid weather often have mold, algae, moss, mildew, growing on their rooftop. These are more prone in the areas that are exposed to frequent rainfall or moisture. Common signs of moss damage are green carpet with a fuzzy texture (moss), black-green speckles (algae), black, brown, and dark-green blotches (mold) or black to light grey and even pink powder (mildew). Though they appear to be mild and harmless, they can cause severe roof damage that can be fixed by professional help only.
Roof Flashing
Roof flashing are thin sheets of aluminum or galvanized steel, present beneath shingles. This flashing runs over the joints in your roof’s construction to help protect your roof’s internal structure from water damage. Common signs of roof flashing rust deposition on the shooting, unwanted water leaks in your home, buckling or sagging, tearing, or deterioration of your roof flashing.
