Hello World! Welcome Friends! Apartment kitchens are seeing more and more upgrades, but the reality remains that they are small spaces in many floor plans. There is only so much room you can dedicate to a kitchen when designing an apartment, but that doesn’t mean your area can’t be functional and inviting. If you want to make the most out of your gourmet kitchen, you’re going to need to get a little creative to maximize your space. These tips can help.
1. Add Shelving Above the Counter
The space between the countertop and the top cabinet is often wasted. Adding a shallow shelf gives you a place to store spices or utensils that you want to have close at hand. This addition makes better use out of a dead space and adds a bit of storage as well.
2. Hang Your Pots and Pans
Pots and pans are notoriously difficult to store, but you can eliminate the problem by hanging them on the wall. Hanging pots and pans also makes it easy to grab them when you’re ready to cook. If done well, your hanging cookware can become an aesthetic addition to your home.
3. Invest in Stackable Containers
Stackable containers can help you fit more items into your cabinet space to make it look neater and more organized. Look for containers with lids that you can stack on top of each other, then clearly label them to ensure you know what is inside to grab when you need when you are cooking.
4. Create a Spice Rack
If you don’t have space for a spice rack, consider creating one on your own. You can put a tension rod in a cabinet near the wall, then balance small spices on that to keep them easily within reach. This change will help you store more in your cabinet while also keeping it all visual, so you know what you have and what you may need to buy. Another option is to hang a spice rack on the backside of a cabinet or a door in your kitchen to make use of this space.
5. Use the Bottom of the Cabinets
Another way to use the space between the counter and the cabinet is to hang a magnetic strip on the underside of the upper cabinet. Stick metal jar lids to the strip, then put the jars in place. You can store small items or spices easily in this way. You can also use the strip to hang metal utensils close at hand if needed.
6. Add Shelving Inside Your Cabinets
Tall shelves inside a cabinet can quickly feel unorganized if you stack things too high. If you find that your apartment kitchen uses the vertical space well, consider adding another shelf or two inside the cabinets to help you use the storage space more effectively.
Your kitchen may be small on space, but with a few tweaks, it can be big on function. Take some time to evaluate the space you have and find ways to make more out of it. By doing so, you will start enjoying cooking in your kitchen more thoroughly.
