Hello World! Welcome Friends! Your living room space is an important part of the home as it is the area which enables you to relax in the evenings. So you want it to be comfy as possible, but it is also nice to keep it looking up to date and stylish too. Here are some not too expensive ideas to keep it maintaining fresh and modern.
Fresh Coat of Paint
A splash of paint can make all the difference to a room. If the color is looking a bit tired then you could freshen it up with a fresh coat, or be a little adventurous and try a new shade. This year’s decor is all about creating a feature wall in a darker shade and painting the remainder of the room in a lovely pastel color to open up the space a little.
Add Mirrors
The addition of mirrors is a great way to create the illusion of a bigger space. They are particularly useful when placed near a window as they can reflect the natural light into the rest of the room making it much more spacious and brighter.
Accessories To Add a Bit of Character
If you have a plain colored settee, adding some brightly colored cushions or throw blankets can really liven up the look. Bold patterns will also be a nice contrast to the plain colored furnishings. This allows you to create different looks throughout the seasons too. So during the fall you can opt for dark, rich colors whilst in the summer you could then replace these with light and vibrant tones.
Hang Some Wall Art
Adding some lovely artwork is another good way to add some character in the room. You could create your own on a canvas or opt for a statement piece that will provide a great vocal point in the room.
Freshen Up The Carpet
If you have a carpet that is in good condition apart from the odd stain then why not give it a good clean instead. If you do not have the equipment to steam clean then you could use a carpet cleaning service to be able to give it a thorough clean. This will help brighten it up again, making it look like new again. It will also be a lot cheaper than replacing the entire carpet.
Change Up Those Curtains
You want your living space to have as much natural light as possible during the summer months, so opting for blinds is a much better option than curtains. The blinds allow you to control how much light enters the room whilst also giving you privacy at the same time, whereas curtains tend to just block out the light completely when closed.
