Hello World! Welcome Friends! When it comes to selling your home, you don’t want to be hanging about for months waiting to move on to the next stage of your life. You want to get things moving. So, how do you ensure that your house will be appealing to potential buyers? Here are some tips to help your house become the hottest home on the market.
Declutter
If you don’t have a lot of stuff sitting about your home, you can skip this step. However, if you have years of memories and clutter sitting about, you might want to start packing some of this away. As you are planning on moving house, it makes sense to get a head start on your packing. However, it can also help potential buyers see themselves living in it if there. It might seem uncomfortable packing up your tiny treasures for the benefit of a stranger walking around your home, but if you want your house to sell, you have to meet potential buyers in the middle. Don’t forget the attic and the collection of clutter that is hiding up there. Remember, you need to take all of this stuff when you move, otherwise you can be hit with a clearance fee, so make sure you can actually bring this stuff.
Deep Clean
After you have decluttered and packed away all of your favorite things, now is a good chance to deep clean your home. Again, you need to think about making it easier for you to move and sell your home. The best way to do this is to start at the top and work your way down. Going room by room and clearing out junk as you deep clean can do wonders for your mental health and for the people seeing your home. It is always easier to do a deep clean after you have decluttered as you will not have to move so much stuff about. Of course, you can always do the deep clean and declutter at the same time if you feel up to it.
Don’t Forget the Garden
The garden is the area that people will see first when they arrive at your home, so it has to be in top shape. However, you don’t need to do a full revamp of the garden to get the most out of it. A good tidy up by removing the weeds, taking away any rubbish, and trimming the bushes can be enough to tidy the place up. You can also do some tidying up of the gutters by giving them a clean, painting the exterior or any fences if you want to go that extra mile. It is worth noting that putting that extra bit of detail into the presentation of the garden can make a huge difference when people come to view your house.
Fix What is Broken
This is something that people have a massive issue with, and it is fixing broken things before they move. It might be tempting to leave things as they are but this benefits no one. If your logic is that you don’t want to fix something because the next owner might rip it out anyway, then you are thinking about selling your house the wrong way. It doesn’t matter if you think the next person to own the house is going to rip everything out. At some point in the future, they might rip it down to the studs and start again. But, at this moment in time, they are trying to imagine themselves in your home, and if things are broken, these are things that they will need to get fixed when they move in, and that is off-putting.
Remove Yourself
This point sits on the back of deep cleaning and decluttering, you need to remove yourself from the property. As we have stated, buyers want to imagine themselves in your home, sitting here on the sofa, cooking dinner in the kitchen. If your house is filled with you and your family, it can cut into the fantasy. If you have a lot of family photos hanging on the walls, you might want to remove them and get them packed away for your own move. Not only is this decluttering but you have removed your own imprint on the house. As boring as it sounds, you need to make your house look like anyone could live there. This also includes any crazy decorating that you might have. Neutral colors work best for potential buyers to see themselves living in your home.
Have a Use for Each Room
The rooms of our homes are not always cut and dry with their purpose. A dining room might double as an office, your bedroom might have a home gym in the corner. If you have noticed that rooms are blending together, now is the time to separate them and define their function. Having rooms with multiple functions can be overwhelming to buyers who are trying to visualize their own furniture in the space. You need to remember that these setups are only temporary. Once your house is sold and you move, you can have your blended rooms again. But while it is on the market, try and define the purpose of the space so it can sell quicker.
Smells Great
There are a few things that buyers love, and it smells great. If you are looking to fragrance your home as people are viewing it, choose a warming scent such as vanilla or rosemary with an electric burners for wax melts. Your house should smell like a home, so don’t go overboard with the fragrance. However, you need to ensure there are no nasty smells either. When you completed your deep clean, you should have included the drains as they are the worst offenders for wayward smells. Make sure that you have removed any bad odors during your deep clean and then you can fragrance with confidence rather than masking a bad smell.
Selling your home is one of the toughest things you will ever do, but if you follow this guide, it will sell in no time.
