Hello World! Welcome Friends! Keeping a house clean is a challenge, and when you have some kids around, things quickly become even more problematic. Children are very creative when it comes to finding a way to create a mess, damage something important, misplace things, and generally cause havoc.
A lot of parents struggle to keep their homes clean when their kids get slightly older and become more mobile. Some accept this new reality and make peace with the mess around them. But you really don’t have to accept this messy reality. Here are some tips to help you manage the situation.
Use Washable Paint
One of the first things to get compromised when children learn to use pencils and colors is the walls. Even though they will have a bunch of notebooks and plenty of loose sheets to draw on, there is something about coloring the walls that are irresistible to all kids.
No matter how much you tell your kids not to do it, it will eventually happen. You can take a proactive approach and get some washable paint on your walls. Modern washable paints are available in a range of colors and finishes so you don’t need to compromise on the look of the walls. With washable paint, you can easily wipe or scrub off scuff marks, pencil marks, pen marks, and nearly anything else that the kids might put on it. This will save you the trouble of having to repaint the wall every time it gets soiled.
Deep Cleaning is Important
The challenging part of being a parent is keeping up with the speed and the intensity of young children. You will have just cleared a space and within 30 minutes it will be back to looking like a mess. Children also love exploring and they have a knack for getting into the nooks and crannies of the home.
When they have lodged dirt, toys, random clothes, food, and candy wrappers in these areas, it can be quite hard to get them clean. You might be thinking ‘I wish I could find a cleaning service near me to take care of this mess’. That is often the wisest thing to do. Some of the mess is not going to be cleaned with regular cleaning tools or surface cleaners. You will need some specialized liquids and some professional tools to do the job. This can be particularly useful if you have just moved into a home where children have ruined the place. If you have been putting off cleaning for a while and now you just want to get it done properly, this is the right solution.
Try Out Vinyl Flooring
Another area of the home that often suffers when children are around is the flooring, especially carpet flooring. They will stomp all over it with dirty shoes, they will crush things under their feet and there will generally be a lot of things on the floor that will ruin any kind of delicate flooring material. A great option is to go for vinyl flooring if you can. The great thing is that you can get vinyl in a lot of different looks.
Whether you want a wooden look or a natural stone look, you can get it in vinyl flooring, and you won’t have to worry about taking care of it much like you would need to care for a natural material. It’s very resistant to wear and tear and it is very easy to clean. Installing it takes minimal effort and it is not that expensive either. You will need to let your old flooring go, but it will be well worth the sacrifice in the future.
Dedicate a Space
If you can teach your children how to organize their belongings and be disciplined about how they manage their play activities, you will not only be teaching them a valuable lesson but also saving yourself from a lot of work. Just having a proper toy closet and a dedicated play area can drastically reduce the amount of mess you have to face. This way the children will be confined to a specific part of the house so you only have to clean that area rather than handle a whole house.
Try to create a better routine in your home. Let the children have a time of day where they can enjoy their toys and do whatever they want to in the play area. This way when you are done cleaning for the day you will know that the house isn’t about to get vandalized again if the kids suddenly decide to pull out their coloring pens.
