Hello World! Welcome Friends! Having a clean and tidy kitchen is vital for both hygiene and your state of mind! Yet the task can seem like an endless and insurmountable one at times. Luckily, by keeping a few key principles in mind and making some simple changes to your habits, you can make the job much easier. Here’s how.
Clean As You Go
In order to prevent cleaning from becoming a massive and intimidating task, try simply doing it as you go. This basically means wiping up spills immediately, washing pots and pans as soon as you’ve finished using them, and doing the dishes straight away after eating. It has the added benefit of making cookware and surfaces easier to clean because the mess won’t have had time to harden.
Make Sure Everything Has a Place
When every item in your kitchen has its own place, it’s much easier to keep the place clean and tidy. You won’t have your countertops cluttered with crockery that you don’t know what to do with, and clear surfaces also encourage you to be neater. Aim to store the dishes and cookware that you use most often in the most accessible cupboards to make life easier. A little organization can go a long way!
Get a Garbage Disposal
Food waste can quickly turn your kitchen into a disaster zone. It’s messy, often smelly, and can attract flies, ants, and all sorts of other bugs if you’re not careful. One great space-saving option is to get a garbage disposal for your sink. This will speedily and efficiently get rid of all your scraps, leaving you with one less cleaning job to do.
Make It a Routine
One surefire way to keep your kitchen sparkling is to make cleaning part of your routine. After dinner, try to get in the habit of doing the dishes, wiping down the surfaces, putting your plates and other cookware away, sweeping the floor, and so on. If you make it a part of your daily routine, it will require less willpower to do – thus making it much easier to maintain a beautiful and hygienic home.
Don’t Put Jobs Off
When it comes to cleaning, the longer you put off a task, the worse it gets. You’ll be less likely to want to do it, and the job itself is only going to become more difficult. So, if you see an issue that needs addressing, get on with it straight away. Trash can full? Take it out. Dishwasher cycle finished? Empty it. You get the picture!
Make Cleaning Fun
Ok, pretty much no one actually likes cleaning! However, by finding ways to make it a bit more fun you can encourage yourself to do it. As an example, you could play your favorite music and sing along as you’re doing the washing up. Alternatively, if you’ve got a mammoth cleaning task to tackle, stick on a podcast or audiobook to help pass the time more enjoyably. You could even try making a game out of your kitchen cleanup by awarding points for each job completed – you can then use these to unlock a reward of your choice. This is also a fantastic way to get the kids to help out!
