Hello World! Welcome Friends! The kitchen is the bosom of the body called home. This is where the health and the heart of a family are. This is where the meals and the memories begin to simmer. The kitchen is a place where the stories take shape as the smell of spices and aroma of sweets begin to dance from morning to evening. However, if you think that kitchen walls are only meant for smoky deposits and ceilings for the fumes of heat, and that, decorating your kitchen is not worth it, you’re wrong. Hang on, and look at ten interesting ideas that might change your perspective and inspire you to pay attention to your kitchen décor too.

1. Give a New Shine to Utensils & Containers
Begin with the most important part of your kitchen. Make your utensils and containers shine like brand new. Pat a microfiber cloth in a bowl of flour and scrub it all over the steel vessels. For microwave or baking containers, use some tissue papers or crumpled aluminium foil dipped in a few drops of dishwashing liquid.
2. Replace Cabinets with Shelving
Stacked shelves eliminate the space eaten by cabinet walls and doors. Let the shelves float free stacked across the walls of your kitchen. Divide them in areas to keep different kinds of items including spice boxes, bottles, bowls, or other equipment. For smaller items you can create shelves with less spacing. For other large items like mixers, grinders, or trays, the shelves can be located at a larger vertical distance. Bonus, they include corners by the way.
3. Experiment with Dark Shades
Many people prefer going for lighter, pastel shades for their kitchen. However, there is no bad choice if you choose to go for darker shades. Don’t be hesitant if you like black. It looks amazing when applied properly. Black and white gingham sound perfect. Other shades you might as well look upon are navy blue, cherry red, maroon and emerald green. Even magenta is good to go if you’re not vulnerable or ‘too flashy’.
4. Combine Wood & Lacquer
While lacquer gives a glossy vibe to the entire kitchen, wood lends a rugged earthy feel to it. So, mix and match the two to take the middle way. Apart from adding a textured appeal, the combination is as well eclectic and will almost always succeed in amazing your guests. Just a play to the eye!
5. Add Lists & Labels
Ever wondered how you are able to find desired items in a supermarket pantry or a large store? One of the biggest reasons for this is labeling. Labeling helps you avoid the last minute rush by keeping everything organized in their respective places. Label the containers. And before putting them back in the cabinet or drawer, tape the cabinet door with a list of all the labels inside it. Another advantage to this is, others won’t have to call you every hour to find some container in your kitchen while in your absence.
6. Classroom & Cafeteria Style
Remember the school cafeteria, or the lunch room. It was all colorful, wasn’t it? Bring that school vibe back to your kitchen; your kids are going to love it. Paint the doors knobs in bright peppy colors. Paste graphic wallpaper on the backsplash. Replace the regular baskets or furniture with colorful lacquer or plastic.
7. Say Goodbye to Boring Walls
With the help of patterns and wallpapers, jazz up your kitchen walls into as good as new. Drill in some sturdy metal hooks and use them to hang pots, pans, sieves and wall hangings. Dress up the walls in stickers and artwork. There’s plenty to do.
8. Get Creative with Cabinet Space
Usually in the cabinets located underneath the countertops, there is a whole lot of space left empty in the upper area. Make full use of this space by utilizing the cabinet doors. Use tape or hooks to add lightweight cans or tumblers to the door. Use them to keep the lesser used cutlery and items such as spatulas, sponges, etc. This will save your storage space while keeping them out of sight.
9. Attached Butcher’s Block
Instead of going for a separate butcher’s block table, make it attached to the side wall of the countertop island. To save even more space, you can go for a foldable or slider butcher’s block with knobs or door handles to pull the table.
10. Little Assorted Elements
If you don’t want to go for big variations or changes in your kitchen, you can also add little decorations to sum it all up. Examples are, scalloped ceiling or countertop, lipped countertop, cookbook shelf, pendant lanterns, herb pots trellis, and pretty much anything you can think of.

Do you have an old tablet that you rarely use? If so, why not turn it into a dedicated kitchen tablet so that you can get rid of paper clutter like the calendar on the fridge, the cookbooks in the cabinets, and the recipes that are scattered all along with the countertops. Digitizing the paper clutter is a great way to save some kitchen space.

Not only will a wooden floor add to the value of your home, but it will also add to the room’s space and light. Carpets are light-absorbent and cancel out the illusion of having extra space in the place. Your furniture will also look more desirable on a solid floor than on a carpet.

Love the idea of shelving instead of cabinets, I think it would help make my kitchen seem bigger and more airy. Maybe try some distressed wood! Thanks for sharing.
