Hello World! Welcome Friends! Your outdoor space should be an oasis. This is your small corner of the world, after all, and it’s a place where you can truly enjoy what nature has to offer. But, what happens if you feel more on edge than a tightrope walker each time you set foot in your garden?
Far from images of calming sun loungers, a surprising amount of people struggle to feel settled in their backyards. This can happen for a variety of reasons, but in this article, we’ll consider the top three issues that could be keeping you on edge outdoors.
Reason 1: Haphazard Planting Techniques
We aren’t all master gardeners and, and a haphazard approach may have left your flower beds a little unruly. Outcomes like color clashes across poorly planned flowerbeds can work quite well, but issues with things like plant height and size aren’t so easy to overcome. Let’s say you’ve got tall plants like foxgloves growing in front of ground-dwelling growers such as periwinkle. Instead of being able to kick back outdoors, this seemingly small issue will be all you can focus on during your time here.
To avoid this, it’s always worth planning your flower beds with a little more care. As mentioned, color schemes leave a lot of room for play, but you’ll want to be stricter with priorities like planting tall flowers at the back, or in sections of their own. This way, your beds will look better, and you’ll be better able to relax at last.
Reason 2: The Problem With Neighbors
As well as making you feel uncomfortable when you’re outside, being overlooked by your neighbors can prevent you from opening those patio doors altogether. No one likes the feeling of being watched, after all, and even if your neighbors make an effort not to look out, knowing they can see straight into your garden from their landing window is unsettling.
Luckily, even if your neighbors have an unfortunately clear view, there are steps you can take to create privacy. Something as simple as investing in outdoor privacy screens to place around your seating areas could block their visibility. Equally, you could use flowers, potted plants, or hedges to create small, hidden corners that you can more easily enjoy.
Reason 3: The Wrong Outdoor Soundtrack
You’ll never be able to relax in your yard if all you can hear is the constant thrum of traffic or passing pedestrians. Just like that, your backyard will go from feeling like an oasis to seeming more like a public throughway. And a loud one, at that!
To some extent, creating sound barriers like the privacy screens mentioned can work better for creating your ideal home garden than you might think. It’s also worth introducing more pleasant, calming sounds that can mask those distractions. Water fountains are ideal for this purpose, and the gentle trickling of water can calm you no matter how close your garden is to a busy road.
You deserve to relax in your outdoor space. Make it possible by addressing these three distracting setbacks at last.
