Hello World! Welcome Friends! Living room design might seem mystifying for some homeowners. However, if you keep a few simple concepts in mind, you should do fine. There are certain rules you can follow that won’t steer you wrong, so let’s look at a few of the most vital ones right now.
Choose a Color Scheme
Sometimes, you might purchase items for your living room indiscriminately. When that happens, don’t be surprised if you end up with an assortment of different colors that don’t go well together.
If you look at the top 5 oak TV units and install one that’s front and center in your living room, but then you have art on the walls or other elements that clash with the color, you might wince every time you walk in there. Try to choose complementary colors. That should be on your mind whether you’re picking out furniture, art for the walls, etc.
Decide Whether Drapes or Blinds Make More Sense for You
Many living rooms have windows. At some point during the day, the sun will likely shine through them. Some people embrace the sunlight, while others find it repellent. Consider which kind of individual you are.
If you’re someone who likes to shut out natural light rather than embracing it, you might want to go with heavy blackout curtains. If you’re someone who wants the sun to shine in and illuminate the room when it’s on that side of the building, blinds that you can easily adjust probably make more sense.
Don’t Make Things Uncomfortable if You Plan on Having Guests over Frequently
You should also think about how often you have people over. Do you frequently have dinner parties, movie-watching events, game nights, and so forth?
If so, design your living room setup with those events in mind. Imagine what it will be like if you have four people over, or six, or ten. Where will everyone sit? Does the furniture setup you have in mind have a nice flow for conversation, watching TV, or playing games? You might try a few different configurations till you land on the perfect one.
Don’t Forget About Places for Snacks and Other Items
You will need large pieces of furniture in your living room, assuming there’s room for them. That probably means installing a couch that will take up a good amount of the available real estate, as well as chairs to either side of it.
When you’re setting up your larger pieces of furniture that will dominate a room, though, don’t forget about places to set drinks or bowls of chips or pretzels. That will probably involve having a coffee table in the center, though having some smaller tables on either side of the couch should also serve you well.
The most important thing when setting up your living room is knowing what you plan on doing in it. Designing the setup with events in mind makes sense since most people regard this as one of the focal points of the household.
