Hello World! Welcome Friends! Some properties have seen two, three, or even more facelifts over the years, as homeowners update their kitchens for function, design, aesthetic, or to even open the place up. With the exception of replacing a fridge or oven because it broke, this is almost always done to improve the aesthetic of the property and to make a house feel like home.
It almost seems like a rite of passage at this point, to remodel the old and outdated kitchen that came with your new property, but before you get ahead of yourself, you will first want to review these steps to ensure you get it right:
Hold Off and Wait
Before you get ahead of yourself, it is always best to just hold off and wait. That kitchen and bath remodeling dream design you have isn’t going to go anywhere, it’s just going to mean being patient. There are many things you need to do first, especially if you have just moved in. Unpack, find everything you own a place, put your photos and art on the walls, and fill your home with you. This way you won’t feel compelled to remodel just because you don’t feel like it’s your home yet, you’ll remodel in order to address the design or function deficiencies.
Build a Mood Board
While you are unpacking, or even just while you are waiting, you should start creating a mood board. This can either be done online or in a scrapbook. The goal is to collect inspiration of types of kitchens that you want and put them all in one place. You can then pair the items that work together and discard the ideas that don’t make the cut.
Try to Keep the Redesign Simple
Don’t go overboard when planning which design details you want to have. Try to keep it as simple as possible. Simple is more budget friendly and it is also the best way to ensure you love the design your entire life. If you can, try to avoid obvious short-term trends and stick with timeless ideas you and all future homeowners will love.
Be Considerate With Storage
When designing your kitchen it is important you consider storage. This doesn’t mean you should automatically jump into high-tech solutions, either. Ideally, you want your kitchen to be simple with its storage so that you have a place for everything without the risk that mechanics will break (which they will in the long run).
Be Considerate With Entertaining
You will also want to consider how well you can entertain in the space. You could try to add a small breakfast bar to your kitchen so that people can sit down and be social with you while you make dinner or clean up the kitchen.
Hire the Right Company
Finally, you will want to be careful about who you choose to do your kitchen remodel. You will want a very reputable company on your side who, more importantly, has successfully completed many projects just like yours.

Hold Off And Wait – very important. See how you function in your kitchen (and the rest of the house).
I think it also important to ascertain who will be cooking – just one cook or do both parents (if applicable) cook? How will they work around each other? What will happen when young’uns are old enough to be brought in to learn those essential basics?
What’s the best flow from fridge to washing station, to prepping to cooking? This may well vary, Where are the best locations to store the day to day dishes and flatware? For me, I found putting those high -use items near the dishwasher, and near to the main dining region, the most effective.
Plot out usage as a whole overall, not as increments.
Others may differ, but I wanted my main prep station to be by the window (it’s daylight when I do most of the cooking), and the dish washing region to be overlooking people eating at the table – so I could converse as I clean up – which, if I have guests, will usually be after dark, unless it is Midsummer.
But obviously there are a lot of things that may differ from home to home, family to family.

I did hold off and wait! Unfortunately still waiting, lol!! As a food blogger, the thought of losing my kitchen even for a few weeks is horrifying! Look at your gorgeous kitchen, though. Wow!!
Thanks for sharing at Fiesta Friday!
