Hello World! Welcome Friends! Are your tile floors starting to look a little sad and in need of cleaning but you aren’t sure how to make them beautiful without damaging the grout? Tile floors in your bathroom, kitchen, and wherever else are going to require specific cleaning methods, and I want to share with you the best way to clean them so that they really shine.
Vacuum First
Before you get down on your hands and knees and scrub at the tiles to clean them and even before you start mopping the floors, you should use a vacuum to get up the particles. This will give you a smoother, cleaner surface to work with and take care of a lot of the debris on the floor. Be sure to use the hard floor attachment for best results, and that is usually a brush head for our vacuum that prevents particles from escaping as you attempt to vacuum them.
Clean the Grout without Harm
How do you get the grout between your tiles to look clean without making it crumble or creating stains from the cleaners? You will have to use cleaning methods that lift dirt and oils from the grout without actually harming it.
If the grout on your floors isn’t sealed, then it will be tougher to clean. Consider putting a sealer down to make your cleaning job easier, because then you can just use the same cleaning methods as you would for the rest of your tile floor. If you are dealing with unsealed grout, however, using borax, diluted oxygen bleach, or bicarb soda. Scrub the grout gently with a soft toothbrush to remove stains and grime. This method will not break up the grout and will keep it looking spotless. Be really careful about the cleaners you use on unsealed grout, as it can be easily damaged by powerful cleaning solutions.
Mop the Floor
The best way to clean most tile floors is with a mop and bucket. You will get up the majority of the grime and stains on the floor this way, and this method has the advantage of not taking very long to do. Before you try to scrub at each little spot and bit of grime, mop your tiles first. You will save yourself a lot of work, and you might be surprised at how effective mopping is at getting up even tough grime on the floor once you do it correctly.
When mopping, be sure to use tile cleaner. This will handle the grime on the surface efficiently, and you will expend less effort in your mopping than you would if you were using plain old soap and water. Just follow the directions on the tile cleaner to mop with it. For best results, put down some water on the floor (or tile cleaner) and let it sit there for a few minutes. After it has soaked into the grime, then you can mop as usual. The water will do a lot of the work for you so that you don’t have to mop as hard or scrub as much later.
Scrub Your Tiles
The final step in making your tile floors look spotless is to scrub them. Now, you can skip this step if you know a home cleaner company for Tampa or wherever you are. If you are cleaning the floors on your own, though, you will have to put in some effort for this part of the process. It’s not necessary to scrub every time you clean the floor, but you will need to do it occasionally.
When scrubbing the tiles, you can use warm water or add soap to make a more powerful cleaner. You will be dealing with the stuck-on dirt that regular mopping cannot remove, so the scrubbing action is more effective than the cleaning solution.
Use a floor brush to scrub with- something that has medium bristles. Very hard bristles can scratch the tile or grout, and soft bristles just won’t be effective.
What to Use to Make Your Tiles Shine
If you want really shiny tiles and the method we gave you above does not make them shiny enough for you, then you can try using vinegar to clean with. This is a decently powerful cleaner that removes bad smells from your floor and gives them a wonderfully shiny appearance. Use vinegar when you mop to get floors that are so shiny they will look like new. Just be careful about using vinegar on unsealed grout.
Cleaning tile floors is fairly simple, but there are some important cleaning guidelines you need to know to protect your floors and to keep them looking clean and beautiful. I hope this short guide helps you make your floors look spotless.
