Hello World! Welcome Friends! Hope all are happy and well on this fine Wednesday. A couple of weeks back, we headed down to Galveston Island for a couple of days of rest and relaxation (ha, ha). Be forewarned, there are a ton of pictures and no, I didn’t post one of myself. I didn’t wear any make-up for three days…gasp. Just didn’t feel like putting it on. And, this is very strange for me…since I love make-up.
We stayed at the San Luis Hotel and Resort which has views of the Gulf of Mexico. We had a nice room on the 14th floor which afforded us some lovely views of the ocean and the pool below. Enjoy.

The pool with the beach beyond.
The water slide with waterfall alcove at the resort.
Ready to go to the beach.
A windy day at the beach right before the storm blew in.
After the storm, we headed over to Pleasure Pier which just opened up this summer. Okay, this was my favorite part of the trip. I love rides!
On the carousel. She was a little cautious. But, she went from this to this…
Beautiful detail work on the carousel.
No, I didn’t ride the swings. They weren’t working yet.
This picture was taken high up on the ferris wheel.
The Iron Shark. See the vertical section? The rider goes straight up and then straight down! Did I ride it? Yes, I did! This is one of the best roller coaster rides I’ve been on.
I literally squealed when I saw that Pleasure Pier had a blue and white teacup ride. The Dedicated Daughter loved this one. We probably rode this one at least 10 times.
We loved the bumper cars as well. I’m a little aggressive when driving a bumper car.
Don’t you love his face?
What a good Daddy to ride all the kiddy rides with her until she was willing to ride them by herself.
Pleasure Pier was followed up by dinner at The Rainforest Cafe.
The wedding gazebo on the San Luis Resort property.
Galveston Island is a beautiful little island for a quick getaway. It is wonderful to see Galveston coming back to life after being ravaged by Hurricane Ike. I for one am very happy. I love being able to hop in the vehicle and be at the coast in about an hour and a half. And, now I have a new favorite: Pleasure Pier. We will be back!
I hope you enjoyed our little summer excursion. Have you gone anywhere this summer? I must confess, I’m ready for the schedule to be tightened up again. But, I will relish this last year I have with my little one before she heads off to kindergarten. We have one more year with her going to Mother’s Day Out and spending her time home with us.

Kathryn, no apologies necessary for pictures! Love seeing the sights, especially all the colorful rides. I can't believe you went on the vertical one. As the years have gone on, I have lost any desire to go on rides, so I am always impressed with those who will. Thanks for stopping over to Quirky Vistas and checking out my posts and leaving me your kind words of encouragement! Hope you'll come by again sometime.

Fantastic photos! We were at Galveston Island last year around March before the tourist season, we went for the day. Our daughter lived in Houston and we were visiting her. Beautiful Island…I could have walked those beaches all day! 🙂

Hi Kathryn,
I love this post. I lived in Houston in the early 80's and we used to go to Galveston. There was a hurricane that year, and it devastated it then, but it is a fun place. Happy you had such a great vacation with your lovely family. Thank you so much for sharing with Wednesdays Adorned From Above Link Party last week. This weeks Link Party is opened at http://www.adornedfromabove.com/2012/08/tangerine-toner-and-wednesdays-adorned.html
Hope to see you there.
