Hello World! Welcome Friends! Now that January is here, it is time to make some changes to the home and get rid of the clutter Christmas can bring. Whether it is clearing out a space for your home office, having a clear out in your wardrobe or clearing your kitchen – cleaning out the home for a fresh year is always a must.
Today we want to talk about spring cleaning before the spring and how you can make some positive changes to your home in January by deep cleaning it for the new year. Here are some of the simple cleaning tips we have for you this month that you need to try.

Soak the Shower Head
The first thing you should consider doing this January is soaking the shower head to give it a deep clean. There are some simple remedies you can use to do this however we think that bleach and water is the easiest and the most effective for getting rid of mold and grime quickly. All you need to do is grab a ziplock bag and fill it halfway with water and bleach. Dip the shower head inside and secure the bag around it, placing it somewhere for a few hours or overnight to soak. Once you come back to the shower head you simply need to wipe it, pour away the water, and run the shower for a few minutes and you’ll end up with a sparkling clean shower head once more.
Eradicate Pests
One of the things you might not consider doing when spring cleaning your home is getting rid of a small pest infestation or preventing one. There are a few simple songs to look out for when you think you have pests in the house such as a smell, small specks, and movement. You can call a local pest control company to help you deal with a problem that is existing and you can also make changes to your home to prevent one happening. For example, you might want to declutter the space to reduce hiding spaces for pests as well as getting rid of open food packets and dirt.
Install Dehumidifiers
When cleaning your home for the new year it is a good idea for you to tackle damp and mold in several ways. For mold on the walls you can clean this with bleach before you paint over it with anti-fungal paint; for the windows you can keep the frames dry and clean; and for prevention you can install a few dehumidifiers around the house. Around door frames and windows and in the wardrobe are the most common places to do this.
Streak Free Windows
It is so important when you are trying to have a clean and clear home for the new year that you clean your windows throughly and ensure no annoying streaks. If you want a simple way to clean your windows without streaks you will need: squeegee, sponge, cloth, water, window cleaner.
To clean your window effectively you can start by spraying some window cleaner on the window and wiping away grime with a cloth. Once you have done this, you can spray again with a window cleaner and then squeegee the window to wipe it away. For one last rinse – add water to the window, wipe your squeegee with a sponge to dry and clean it – and squeegee the window starting from the left, going to the right and down, then left, right, left, right, and carry on until you end with the squeegee at the side of your window. By never allowing your squeegee to leave the window it will avoid those lines you normally get.
Wipe Sticky Surfaces
Now is the perfect time to go through the home and start wiping sticky surfaces such as where drinks have been without a coaster, where bottles have been set, and inside the cupboards in the kitchen. This is a quick job and will ensure that the home is clean and smelling fresh.
Use Baking Soda Everywhere
Baking soda is your ultimate secret weapon when cleaning the home and it is worth stocking up on right away. You can use baking soda to sprinkle on spilt drinks on your carpet and then vacuum it up; to unclog the drains with vinegar; and for getting rid of tough stains on your hob or even to your bath.
It is a good idea for you to clean your home deeply in January and we hope these tips will help you make your home feel fresh and ready for the new year.
