Hello World! Welcome Friends! I have been slowly adding some Fall decor around the house, but tonight I want to focus on the mantel. The position of our fireplace has bugged me since we moved into this house. Since there is a window above the fireplace, I have been in a quandary about how to decorate the mantel. After much playing around, I think I may have landed on a decor scheme that I like.
There is so much I love about our house. The staircase, the wood floors, the Master Bedroom closet and huge backyard had me saying yes when we previewed this home. One of the things I didn’t like was the placement of the fireplace. I would have preferred it to be on the wall where the entertainment center is located. Then I would have hung a huge mirror above it. But, alas, this is where it is with a window above it.
The green lanterns are making another appearance this year on the mantel. These got a makeover when we lived in our previous home. It is one of my favorite accent colors: Valspar Luscious Green spray paint.
I shopped the house and pulled out my favorite blue and white pieces. The original plan was to leave them empty, but that plan went out the window the other day when Chloe and I went to Hobby Lobby to get paint for the accent wall that I’m working on for her new room design, the modern galaxy bedroom!
After a stroll through the floral department, these pretties landed in my cart.
I brought them home and got to work filling up the bowls and planters. I thought they looked so pretty mixed in with the blue and white.
No, I didn’t buy the oranges just for the shot. Lately, I have been loving having an orange or two after a meal or for a snack. It’s like a sweet little party in your mouth.
I also picked up some other things at Hobby Lobby that will be making an appearance on the blog mid-September.
This vase sits on the bar opposite the sink. It’s a pretty view while I do the dishes.
I was really pleased with the quality of the florals this time around in Hobby Lobby. Needless to say, it was a successful shopping trip.
How are you coming on your Fall decorating? I always feel weird pulling Fall decor out in August, but this little bit doesn’t bother me.

I love the dozen or so photos of small shots of your mantle but would really love a full distance shot of the entire mantle with surroundings of the room to fully enjoy the arrangement.

I just LOVE the combination of the blue/white ceramic with all the bright orange/gold flowers. I bet that window is a challenge to decorate around but it sure does allow lots of beautiful light in! Thanks for sharing with us at the Hello Fall party. Pinned.
