Hello World! Welcome Friends! Your walls are the most important part of your home although they are often overlooked and forgotten about. Of course, a wall is used internally to create the different rooms of the house, offering privacy when needed. But, the external walls are more than just the style of the house, they protect you from the elements and give the house the strength it needs.
In fact, the walls support the roof, floors, and everything else inside your home, without them you wouldn’t have a house!
That’s why you need to maintain them properly and effectively.
It is worth noting that internal walls are not always structural and can be made from a variety of materials. But, one of the best options currently available on the market is the polymer formwork system. It allows easy access to internal components without having to damage the wall. That is a real cost-saver!
Clean Regularly
Regardless of what type of wall you have, you should clean them regularly. That means dusting the walls. A standard duster or feather duster will do. Dusting the walls ensures that the surface is clean, making them look better, minimizing the dust in your house, and reducing damage to the paintwork.
Wash them Down
To ensure they are clean, look their best, and are not being unnecessarily damaged, you should wash the walls down regularly.
You can use a damp sponge and you may even be able to use a detergent. But, you should consider what type of paint you have on your walls first. It is important not to scrub the paint off!
Washing them is particularly important when you have marks and stains on them, the quicker this is done, the better.
Repairing Them
All walls get scrapes and other dents along the way. These can allow debris to collect in the wall and cause more problems. To avoid this you should repair any damage straight away. That means using a little filler and repainting the damaged section.
Of course, if you are repainting any section of the wall you should test the paint in a small area first. Even if you are using the exact same paint you are likely to find it is a slightly different color. This is due to aging and sunlight. If the color difference is obvious you will have to repaint a section or even the entire wall.
Be Aware Of Damp
There are several ways dampness can get into your wall. It can rise from below due to a failure of your damp control system. Or, it can penetrate from anywhere due to a leak. Unfortunately, in many cases, you won’t know that there is an issue until the wall is damaged. That is why you need to keep your eyes open for signs of mold or water stains.
You will then need to act quickly to resolve the water ingress problem and repair the wall. A damp paint may suffice or you may need to remove and replace a section of your wall.
