Hello World! Welcome Friends! As much as you might adore your home and everything inside, there will come the point where it is in dire need of refreshment. The door frames may be chipped, there are dirty fingerprints all over the walls, and there’s a smell that you can never get rid of.
But your house is large, and with such an expanse within, it can be almost impossible to figure out where to begin. This makes any refresh or renovation adventure feel more overwhelming than you can bear. This puts any refresh project on hiatus until you think you’re ready to tackle it, but what if you’re never ready? To make everything more manageable, here is how you can refresh your home room by room.
The Living Room
The living room is the best place to start. It is the room where they spend the most time, so you want to make it feel as fresh and comfortable as possible.
But where can you start in the living room? Repainting the walls to reflect more natural light and brighten up the room is an excellent place to start, while you can also rearrange the furniture to improve the space. If you want to transform your home into a modern oasis, replacing carpets with hardwood floors, and adopting a minimalist approach is a fantastic way to do so.
The Kitchen
You will also spend plenty of time in your kitchen, so realizing the layout you’ve always dreamed of is something to consider. Most people require an extension so they can squeeze in a kitchen island or extra oven.
Despite this, it’s often about the appliances that make a kitchen feel refreshed. Considering old refrigerators use more electricity, you can consider replacing outdated components with Westinghouse Refrigeration spare parts. This is cheaper than purchasing a new unit while also minimizing energy costs. For a total refresh, you can install pendant lights, and replace the silverware and dishes with brand new items.
The Dining Room
Another place you could install pendant lights is in the dining room, and this is usually the better option if you don’t already have a kitchen island. Don’t stop at the lighting, though. Your dining room is supposed to be where family and friends can sit around, enjoy a delicious meal, and talk.
So, you need to make an environment that makes people feel comfortable. A rack of wine close-by is a must-have while relying on a rustic wood-based theme, or stenciled decor will give it that traditional feel that makes family time so important.
The Bedroom
You may only spend time in your bedroom to sleep or wind down for the evening with your favorite book to kick your screen-obsessed habit. This doesn’t mean you can’t still make your bedroom as cozy as possible, though.
It is arguably the most important room in the house. A relaxing bedroom will ensure a restful sleep. Give yourself a cozy environment that uses soft colors such as blue. You should also eliminate any distractions, including the TV. As for waking up, make it as natural as possible by relying on the sunrise, or investing in a sunrise alarm system that mimics the feel of dawn.
The Kids’ Bedrooms
Well, they may have been your kids’ bedrooms at some point, but if they have flown the nest and are living it large in the city, you should make the most of this space that feels brand new. You can keep their bed, but the teenage stink and crumb-infested floors need to go. Buy candles, box everything up, and let them deal with it when they visit.
If your teenage kids are still living at home, encourage them to clean their room as often as possible. As it’s the only room that’s truly theirs, there will be some resistance to decoration, and that’s okay because you’ll eventually get the room back.
The Basement
Ugh, the basement. The place where you neglect to venture because, frankly, there is too much stuff down there that has long passed its use-by date, and may even be a worrying reminder of how long you have lived here.
Clearing out a basement doesn’t need to be so stressful and daunting, though. It’s not just your stuff that is down there in the dank darkness. There are toys, games, clothes, and appliances that you need to get rid of. So, take the family and make it a weekend project to throw out everything that you don’t need. You may get the chance to take a stroll down memory lane at the same time.
The Garage
The same goes for the garage, but rather than remove stuff just to replace it with more stuff over the years; there is much more you can do with a garage.
Garages attached to the home make an excellent man cave or craft room for you and your partner. They can give your kids another space to call their own and give them more space and freedom, especially to hang out with friends. A garage renovation isn’t the easiest, and you’ll need to think about insulation to make it livable, but it can add more space to your home without the need for an extension.
The Backyard
There are two types of people—those who love to garden, and those who couldn’t care less. But, having an attractive and appealing backyard gives you a place to relax in the summer and entertain somewhere other than your living room.
Gardening can also give you a chance to relax, clear your head, and give you a mindless but enjoyable task to get through the day. This is great for mental health and promoting calm, while the (sometimes literal) fruits of your labor make you feel like it was all worth it, and you can put your feet up with a cocktail and sunbathe while enjoying your pristine and colorful garden.
Just Like New
Undertaking a large and significant refreshment project in your home can make pity feel brand new. Whether you decide to give the walls a fresh coat of colorful paint or replace the furniture with something a little cozier, you can enjoy a home that makes you feel relaxed and comfortable.
