Hello World! Welcome Friends! Considering the following information will give you ideas about how to secure your home. If you think you don’t need to know this information you may be wrong. In the time it takes you to read this blog approximately 6 houses will have been broken into, even in the most mellow neighborhoods so it’s important to improve your home security right away.
Secure the Doors
Did you know that 34% of burglaries occur because the thief has been brazen enough to walk through the front door? Now you know with this piece of information you must make sure all of your external doors are secure. Installing deadbolts to both the front and back doors is a great way to ensure that you never forget to lock the door on the way in or the way out. Although locking the doors is a great way to keep thieves at bay they may still tamper with the doors in an attempt to get in. Upgrading to security doors will give you the ultimate peace of mind. They offer tamper-resistant screws and mesh features that make them almost impossible to penetrate. It’s always best to play it on the safe side- you never can be too careful!
Consider the Garage
Your garage usually houses many expensive items such as your car or DIY tools so it’s important to make sure you consider how securing your garage may impact on your security levels. Make it a habit to lock all external and internal doors, even your garage door, to deter the thieves. If your garage door is not working properly, now is the time to look into garage door repair. Covering windows will also help to put them off as they won’t be tempted by your lovely belongings. You should also consider your method of entry. Does your garage open with a remote control or with a key code? If you use a remote control storing this in the house will make it less visible to thieves and if you have a key code make sure you don’t share your code with anyone.
Outdoor Lighting
Illuminating all areas of your property is an effective way to help keep your property safe, it will remove all their hiding places and vantage points. There’s different options to consider and a huge range of products on the market in relation to outdoor security lighting, it all depends on what you feel is right for you. Motion activated lights that pop on when they sense movement are a great way of making sure there’s no one lurking in the garden. You can also purchase security lights that are on a timer so you get constant light for set periods of time. These products are great at conserving energy so you don’t have to worry about an unexpected electricity bill. You can choose solar powered alternatives or energy saving bulbs for those keen on energy conservation.
Home Security Systems
Studies show that there’s less chance of a break in if you have a new, shiny alarm box on the exterior of the house and there’s now a huge range of different systems that you can choose from. These systems suit all needs and budgets and come with different levels of monitoring. For the ultimate piece of mind you could choose a system that comes with cameras that monitor the outside of your property and are linked to teams of people that work around the clock who respond to any triggered alarms. Studies also show that even a fake alarm box that flashes could be enough to prevent an unwanted intrusion.

I would like to add a couple of tips. If you work at home, add a lock on your office door and lock it when you leave home. When I moved here, a put a deadbolt on the door between the garage and laundry room also. The longer it takes, the more likely they are to be caught. We had some break ins in our neighborhood a few years back. They broke the glass on the back sliding doors and walked through instead of jimmying the actual door lock. We also have pairs who split up. One will be at the front door talking to the owner while the other is coming in the back or garage door. If you are doing yard work, don’t leave the garage door open and get distracted. Your tools will be gone before you know it. Be aware.
