Hello World! Welcome Friends! Let us say goodbye to winter and say hello to spring! We all need a restart button pushed this year so let us help to year start off right and give our homes the refresh it deserves so let us go through everything you need to do to prepare for spring this year!
Let the Light In!
Let us start off by cleaning those windows. Then was the last time you washed your windows? I am going to guess that for 90% of your it has been too long, so let us start the year off right by giving those windows a good scrub you will be amazed by how much more sunlight you will feel like to have once your windows are clean.
Window treatments have a huge effect on how much light comes into a room. For example, if you have huge heavy fabric curtains it is going to make the room feel darker and closed in and that very well be the feel you are going for especially to help have those cozy nights in but what about during the day or perhaps you would like to change it up for the spring and summer months you could instead opt for a light linen curtain to help draw that light in and help give a airier feel to your home.
Ladderstore has the ideal ladder to assist you in safely changing your curtains. For a task such as changing your curtains, we recommend a ladder such as a platform step ladder to provide you with the necessary height and stability.
Get your Vases Ready
Fresh flowers are a joy, and now is an excellent time to bring them back into your home if you have put them away for the winter, especially if you have replaced them with dried or silk flowers. Wash your vases well to restore their beauty and replace any that appear to be worn.
Remember that cut flowers last longer in water that is changed daily and adding a drop of bleach to the water to keep bugs away is an excellent way to keep them fresh. Also, while arranging flowers in spring vases, remove any leaves or detritus from the lower stems, since these may quickly become a sticky mess.
Organize your Bookshelves
The aesthetics of open shelving are driving its return in favor. Of course, they look so much nicer when everything is neat and tidy, so if you have chosen this form of storage, take another look at yours.
Do the shelves need to be repainted? While you are dusting and removing your belongings, consider reorganizing the contents. If you have a lot of books, make some space between them, and add a few ornaments or photos to add interest.
Sort Through your Coats
It is time to clear your coat rack of all heavy coats, hats, scarves, and umbrellas. But hold on to your brollies, since we all know what British weather can hurl at us!
Your extra fleecy clothing should be washed or dry cleaned before being stored for the summer. When the sun shines, get out your lightweight jackets and give them a good airing. Are there any children in the house? Expect to be surprised at how much they have grown. Now is also the time to inspect their summer outdoor clothes for any loose buttons, rips, or stains that can be repaired.
Clean Out the Linen Closet
Do you have a lien closet in your house and is it piled high with bed sheets and blankets that you have not used in ages? Perhaps you might even find something you have forgotten about.
It is a good idea to go through all these items for one reason to make sure you are still aware of everything you own and for another to make sure nothing is starting to get a musty smell from not being used for so long.
If you do find that things are needing a bit of a refresh, then I would suggest washing the items with soda crystals to help get rid of the musty smell and some scent peals to help keep the items smelling nicer for longer even if they are stuck in a cupboard. And try and remember to cycle through the items in the cupboard when you can or at least try and make sure the items are given some time to breathe even if that is just having the cupboard door open for longer periods of time and not having linens piled on top of one another.
