Hello World! Welcome Friends! I hope your summer has been everything you’ve needed it to be! Our summer ended on July 17th when our daughter headed back to Percussion Camp and then Band Camp. She is the first girl at her school that has earned a spot on the Quad line on the Drum Line. Needless to say, she is exhausted every evening when she comes in. Generally, the quads are carried by boys due to the heaviness of the drums. But, Chloe wanted a spot on that line and started CrossFit as soon as school was out. We did manage to take a week off and head to Disney World before the whirlwind started again! It was definitely lovely to get away.
While I’m still painting around the house, I decided I wanted to rethink my spice storage in the pantry. Before, in the first pantry makeover, I had placed the spices on the inside of the pantry door. Here’s a picture for reference of the pantry in 2020 as well as the spice jars that I used. You can see the first pantry makeover HERE and the spice door organization I did at our previous home HERE.
Pantry Update – Adding Storage
I decided to change out the jars for something thinner and move them into the pantry on a sliver of wall just above and below the light switch. The old spice jars are going to be repurposed in my future craft/sewing room.
The new spice racks are just to the left of the pantry opening. Oh, and I also decided to make some labels for some of our pantry items. I’m not a fan of making labels, but it does make it easier to find things.
There is a little ledge on the racks that keeps the jars from falling off. The light switch always stays on since the light is a sensor light. So, there is no worry about hitting one the jars to turn the light on or off. The light comes on when it senses movement with the pantry door opening.
The labels and the shelves were purchased on Amazon.
We still have some of the old spice jars in a container. Once we use up the spices, the jars will be washed and then repurposed.
I decided to label the disposable tableware and our first aid/medications box.
And, in place of the old spice jars, I moved the large containers of spices, vitamins and medications to this spot.
I love that I was able to use up the wall space and still have a functioning pantry!
I would love to hear how you tackle storage for your spices.
