Hello World! Welcome Friends! The beginning of the new year always seems to have everyone on the organization band wagon. We want to purge the items we aren’t using and get our houses cleaned and organized. Since completing my Under the Sink Organization, I have been itching to tackle my spices.
Spices are plentiful in our household. Both Greg and I enjoy cooking and “making it up” as we go recipes. So, spices are something that we simply cannot do without in our kitchen. When we moved in, I wanted a space that would house all of the spices together. I also wanted to be able to see all of them without having to rummage through a drawer or cabinet moving spices to find the desired spice. The best place for this was the inside of the pantry door. And, typical, I forgot to take a before picture. It wasn’t too bad, but it definitely didn’t look pretty with different size bottles and boxes.
I purchased two of the wire racks as well as the Ikea 5 oz. clear jars.
Then began the work of checking expiration dates, washing and drying the jars, creating labels and filling up the jars.
I used my trusty Dynmo Label Maker with clear tape to make the labels.
Two jars fit perfectly back to back on the rack for a total of 10 spice jars per each row on the rack.
I have a total of 44 spice jars. Both racks were completely full of spices prior to putting all of the spices in the 5 oz. jars. Now I have almost 4 rows on the rack that I can use to organize other items that are currently in the pantry. Items such as extracts and baking essentials.
Any leftover spices have been stored in this pretty basket and placed in the pantry.
I used a small notebook to keep an inventory of the spices and their expiration dates.

Oh god, I just have a lunch box full of spice bags. You are so much more organised than me. However I do have some jars with premixed spices that I have done myself, like Baharat spice mix and taco spice mix. Makes life easier.

Really pretty! I love how clean it looks, and I love how accessible it all is. Brilliant. I also have to say that I adore that quote by Benjamin Franklin! I’m definitely going to use that in upcoming blog posts of mine. It’s perfect. #wanderingwednesday

I used a similar door rack from the container store to create a gift wrapping space. I love the way they utilize the space behind the door! Awesome idea to use for your spices!

Your pantry door looks great. Getting even a little area organised can make you feel so motivated – especially if it’s an area you see all the time – daily motivation ! I’ll try to get myself organised enough to stop by and join the party another week.

How pretty! Our spice racks are so ugly, and those jars are definitely much prettier than the store-bought jars. Thanks so much for sharing at the #happynowlinkup!

Envious of your pretty spice space! It’s neat, functional, and easy to see! I desperately need to re-do my pull-out pantry shelves. So you say you’re Dymo maker did those labels? I didn’t know Dymo was still around, but like those clean, no-nonsense, easy to read labels.
thededicatedhouse@gmail.com says
Yes, the labels were made with my Dymo. Works like a champ! Thanks for stopping by!
