Hello World! Welcome Friends! How are you coming on the great purge and organizational quest that seems to be happening in 2018? I’ll admit, I’ve been swept away along with the current and have been tackling the upstairs Playroom, my office and guest bedroom. The rest of the house is fairly organized, but I did tweak my Make-up storage which I’ll show you next month.
Chloe has a ton of Lego sets and we have been on a quest to get them organized. She doesn’t want them organized by color, instead she wants the sets to be kept together with the instructions. Off to Amazon I went and purchased these drawer carts specifically for her Legos as well as a scrapbook paper cart for her craft supplies. I forgot to take a picture of that particular cart, but I will link it down below.
No painting has taken place upstairs, but I just had to get started organizing this space. When I took the pictures we had sorted 4 of her sets. I try to take about 30 min. a day and work on sorting a set with the source list in the instructions packet. She had a couple of wild play dates where a good portion of her Lego pieces ended up in other sets. LOL.
The top of the unit has this great tray that will come in handy for her scissors, post its, favorite pens, glue sticks, and stapler.
Here is one of the completed drawers with a sorted set. The nice thing about these drawers is that they don’t slide out of the unit. This was a concern of mine. Can you imagine the meltdown? She goes to open a drawer and the entire drawer slides out and falls and Lego pieces go everywhere. Thank goodness that won’t happen! Now, in order to get the Lego set out of the drawer and to her work table, she has a plastic caddy that she can transfer the Lego pieces to from the drawer and then carry the caddy with the Lego pieces to her work table.
Some of the sets are small, so I am thinking of putting in drawer dividers to house more than one set per drawer. We’ll see how this system works first, and then if we need the space I’ll go ahead and get some dividers.
Also, on Amazon they are having a sale on the Dyson v7 which I took advantage of and ordered one. It should be here by Saturday! I can’t wait to use it; I’ve heard amazing things about it. There is a link below if you are interested.

I really like that idea of separating out the sets! We have so many sets though! We did ours by color.

I wanted to separate them by color, but the child had other ideas. LOL. Thanks for stopping by!

love the lego trick. One of my favorite places to buy containers like this is at resale shops. Someone did not want or need any longer so I find a prize I can use.

With 4 boys who love Lego blocks, we own about 30 of those little drawers of Legos and they never leave a set put together, not even the little mens’ arms stay on their bodies but get swapped out. This is so foreign to me but lovely. I could only dream! Meanwhile, I am loving that you host a monthly organization blog hop!! I totally need to get to writing something on this topic b/c I love this topic. Keep up the awesome work.

This is a great idea! I think my son would like to have his Lego sets organized like this as well. We may have to give it a try!

Aha, lego, the holy grail of toy organising!
This is great, I loved to hear how you need to keep the lego in sets. Colour seems so much more obvious to us doesn’t it?
My two boys were both very different when it came to lego, the older one liked sets, following the instructions and building thing ‘properly’ whereas the younger one was much more of a free spirit. It caused a few problems as they shared a room and therefore most of their toys but somehow they found a way through! I think a proper system like this might have helped.

Ahh! The Lego clutter organized! I like that you’ve grouped them by set not color. Smart idea.

Great organisation! Years ago I kept my sons lego instructions in a binder folder with clear plastic sleeves and all the lego bits were kept in cube storage bins.

Kathryn, thank you for hosting. The link I posted tells about my biggest organizing challenge ever. Not in the kitchen, but in my home office, where I kept my magazine addiction hidden!
