Hello World! Welcome Friends! Ah, summer. Is there any more divisive issue than the season? It’s something we’ve all enjoyed in the past, and want to enjoy again. But this year, it’s making itself difficult to love. What is up with the heat? Its summer has multiplied itself, and now, instead of warm afternoons in the garden, the season is defined by long and uncomfortable nights trying to stay cool when we’re trying to sleep. It’s pretty maddening. But there are ways you can beat the heat. Below, we take a look at a few ways you can ensure you can sleep soundly.
Let There Be A Breeze
It’s normally good practice to keep all of your windows closed, especially if you live in an urban area. But the hot summer months call for different rules. It’s worthwhile looking to see if there are any windows you can keep open throughout the night. A breeze can make all the difference! Just make sure it’s not accessible to people who might do you harm. Also, make sure you keep your internal doors open, as they’ll help move that cool air around your home.
A Good Night’s Sleep
Before you start pointing too many fingers at the summer heat, take a look at your bed. Is it set up to keep you cool, or not? To begin, take a look at your sheets. If they’re keeping you warmer than you’d like, take a look at the best sheets for hot sleepers. You can also see if you can lower your bed so that it’s closer to the floor. Heat travels up, so the higher you are off the ground, the warmer you’re going to be. If you don’t believe us, put your head close to the ground – you should detect a noticeable difference!
Keep Things Slow
There’s a reason why certain countries where it’s hot all the year round have a chilled lifestyle. It’s too hot to do anything! So take a leaf from their book, and leave your go-getter attitude behind, or at least park it until fall has arrived. When the temperatures are soaring, it’s all about slow movements, nothing taxing. You don’t want to heat yourself up even further than necessary! You’re trying to keep yourself as cool as possible. And talking of which….
A Cool Shower
Yes, yes, we know that a warm shower is a staple of luxury living. But in the summer, you might want to consider going cold for a while, especially before you hit the hay. A cold shower before you go to bed will lower your body temperature, and help – mentally at least – wash away that build up of heat.
Light Meals
Finally, think about what you’re having for dinner. A hot meal will only make the heat even more unbearable! Instead, go for light meals, such as salads. They’ll help keep you refreshed, and, oh yeah, they’ll also help you maintain a beach body for the rest of summer. Save the warm food for when the cold weather has returned!
