Hello World! Welcome Friends! You can spend a lot of time collecting different tools to have in your toolbox. But a lot of home DIY jobs and home repairs are only ever going to need a small selection of tools. If you’re renovating or want to get more advanced with things, then you may want to get more, or if you need a specific tool for a specific job. But as a rule, there will only be a certain amount that you need. You can save a lot of time and money by only getting those things that you need for the repairs and DIY that you want to do at home. So with that in mind, here are some of the toolbox essentials that will come in handy for some basic home repairs; is there anything else that you would add to the list?
Safety Glasses
To start off with, you need to put safety first, especially when trying out some DIY for yourself at home. Having some safety glasses in your toolbox is a must. The best to look for are the ones that are ANSI rated, as seen here, allaboutvision.com/askdoc/eye-safety, as they will mean that they are up to scratch and will be resistant to impact.
Tape Measure
Having a tape measure is a must for any tool box. You might just need to measure that furniture to see if it will fit in a corner of the room, or you might be measuring where to put up a photo frame on the wall. If you are cutting up coving or wood for something, then you’ll need to measure really precisely. It is such a handy thing to have in, and even better if it is one that locks, so you can lock the measure and go back to check the distance. A loose one will mean that the measurements aren’t as accurate.
Drill
Having a drill is a winner in your toolbox for some larger repairs and projects, as well as things that you want to do with much less effort. Putting furniture together can be done much quicker with a drill, rather than just a screwdriver, for example. There are a range of drills to choose from, but often going for a cordless one, as seen here, cordlessdrillguide.com, can be helpful just in case you’re not going to be super close to a plug socket.
Screwdriver Set
Having a set of screwdrivers in your toolbox will help with all of the jobs that you need to get done. But as there will be a whole host of things that will need a screwdriver, then you don’t want to have a whole host of screwdrivers. So having a set of screwdrivers heads, that can be changed onto the screwdriver handle, is a must. Then you can chop and change from when you’re putting furniture together, to then adjusting a pair of glasses. Make sure there are a variety of sizes in the set, as well as different types of screw heads, like slats and crosses.
