Hello World! Welcome Friends! You’ve deep cleaned your old house, gotten everything in order and are finally spending the first night in your new home. You’re excited, but you still have boxes everywhere and the entire family is cranky, hungry, and in a new place for the very first time. The last thing you want to do is have to dig through boxes for pots, pans, and dishes in order to feed your family. In this blog, you’ll find a few easy foods to serve your family on that first night in a new home.
Breakfast Food
Who doesn’t love breakfast for dinner? If you have the pans and utensils already out, why not whip up some eggs and bacon. If not, choosing one of your favorite cereals is a perfectly acceptable option for dinner in a new home. Bagels, muffins and breads like cafe style banana bread are another great option. The kids will love it and you’ll have very few dishes to wash when dinner is over.
Casserole
The great thing about making a casserole for the first night in your new home is that it can be put together and even baked on the last night you spend in your old house. There are too many make-ahead casseroles out there to count and you can be sure your family will enjoy the majority of them. Make the casserole the night before, pop it in the oven at your new home, add a crusty loaf of bread from the local market and you have a meal fit for a king to create memories on that first night together in the new house.
Soups and Stews
Whether it’s a beef stew or a steaming pot of chicken noodle soup, nothing says cozy like a hearty soup or stew. Soups and stews are good no matter what time of the year it is. You can start that morning and let it simmer until you’re ready to eat that evening. The best thing about it is that like a casserole, soups and stews only take one pot to cook in. Serve with bread or a side salad you pick up at the store and your meal is complete.
Pasta
As long as you can find your soup pot, pasta is one of the simplest and most filling meals you can serve your family on moving night. Simply pick up some sauce at the store, set the noodles to boil and in no time you’ll have your first meal in the new place prepared. If you want to make the meal even more amazing, add some veggies, chicken or bread to the mix.
Stir Fry
Stir fry not only comes in different varieties, but it’s a healthy option as well. This dish is also easy to create, and it’s fun to get the entire family together to cook it. It’s delightful, healthy, and easy. You couldn’t ask for more on a first night together in a new place. Pick up chicken, steak, pork, and veggies at your local market and have the time of your life cooking together as a family. You could even enhance the flavor with a delicious Japanese twist by adding a touch of yakitori sauce if you wish. Who knows, it might just become another family tradition you can all share.
Order Pizza
If all else fails, and none of the above dishes sound possible or if you just can’t find anything to cook, then ordering pizza is an exceptional alternative. After all, what family member has ever turned down pizza for dinner before?
These are just a few of the best and easiest foods you can prepare for dinner on the first night in a brand new home. Food is important, but don’t forget that the memories you make on that first night are just as important as well.
