Hello World! Welcome Friends! After much debate, we are starting on Chloe’s new bedroom makeover. The debate was traditional vs. modern. Gone are the days of the pink and yellow bedroom with hints of Paris. Sigh. My girl has fallen in love with, in her words, “A Modern Galaxy”. Granted I love modern, but more for a vacation spot. I am a traditional girl at heart. But, my girl, seems to be moving in the modern direction. So, after searching for a couple of months, we have landed on a design. But before we head down the galaxy track, let me remind you of the pink and yellow dream.
She’s getting all new furniture and bedding. The pale yellow furniture which was mine when I was a young girl, will go into the guest bedroom.
In fact, I’ll probably recreate this room with some variation of paint choices in the guest bedroom.
I was a little sad when Chloe informed me she wanted something completely different. She told me she’s been wanting something different for quite some time, but she didn’t want to hurt my feelings since the yellow furniture was mine when I was a young girl! She is such a sweet girl!!!
Currently, her room is burnt orange. Think the colors of the University of Texas. Below is the picture from the listing.
The main things she wants in her design is galaxy themed and gold for the metal. Together we gathered her design favorites. There is only one of her favorites I don’t really like. Otherwise, everything else looks pretty good.
We can’t quite decide between the two dressers. We like both of them. The gold chains are curtain tiebacks. The only thing I’m not sure about is the sparkly bedding. It may be too much, but of course, she loves it. We might go in a different direction for the bedding, but this pattern also comes in a blanket/throw. This might be an option. Once we choose the bedding we can decide on the curtains.
The walls will be painted Reflection 7661 from Sherwin Williams.
Stencil Revolution reached out to me and asked if they could help with any of my decor projects. Well, you had to know there would be a stencil involved.
This is the Twinkle Stars stencil. We will be hitting up Hobby Lobby for the paint colors for the stars. I’ll keep you posted on the colors we choose.
The above lamps will be used on her dresser and desk.
I have wall lamps that I purchased when we were still at the other house that I never got to use. I think they may fit perfectly in above her bedside tables. We’ll see. They are very similar to Jennifer’s at Dimples and Tangles. I can’t even remember where I got them. May have been Lamps Plus, but I’m not sure. Once I dig them out of the box, I’ll let you know.
I know for sure they are gold. So, hopefully they will work in her new room design.
The headboard came in just the other day and it is perfectly dreamy! The cats sure did have a grand time playing on top of the box. So glad we can keep them entertained!
The first order of business is to get the stencil wall painted with the Sherwin Williams paint and then start work on the stencil. This will be one of those work on one wall, move furniture, work on another wall…etc. I wish I could pull out all of the furniture to paint, but alas I have no extra space.
Chloe is super excited about the new room design! I have to admit, I am too. Maybe there’s a little more modern inside of me than I realize!

I really like all the things she has chosen for her room. I favor the dresser with the knobs. But whichever one she chooses will be great. The star stencil is going to be amazing! Can’t wait to see the finished product! I’m like you, the bedding seems a bit much, but a throw in that pattern would be a really good accent!

First off, I think it’s incredibly sweet that she’s used your old furniture for so long. I don’t even have my childhood furniture anymore (and it certainly wasn’t that cute!). But this new theme sounds like it will look incredible. Can’t wait to see the results! Thanks so much for sharing at the #happynowlinkup!

Wow. I really love it. Well maybe not the bedding. It reminds me of when my Elizabeth wanted to paint the bathroom purple to look like the Friends apartment. I never said no, but it never happened except inside of her closet. That closet is still purple and, weirdly, it doesn’t look as bad as I would have thought. Would I have let her have her way with it now? Maybe. Anyway, love love love the chandelier and the dressers and the headboard and the night table. Not sure what I missed, but what ever you shared, I was embracing. It is going to be fun and everyone will know this is a collaborated effort.
I must be too new to know, but I am reading that you have moved not too long ago. So that is why you are so in tune with our remodel project.
Can’t wait to see where this ends up.
You are obviously a good mama. 😀
