Hello World! Welcome Friends! Today we all are suffering under the pressures of confusion, pain, and stress. For many of us it feels like the world has tilted and we are struggling to find balance. It is easy to be overwhelmed and struggle to find the beautiful, the lovely, and the inspiring as we stay in place and are working from home.
During this time when everything may be feeling out of control we can seek daily moments of relaxation, calm, and centering. These moments can be very simple but if we overthink these moments it may appear to be too challenging or too time consuming to take such breaks. In truth, it is important for us to take mini sabbaths, so that we can protect our physical and mental well being.

One place you can start on your quest for moments of sabbath is to go back to your senses. There is something calm to be found in the smell of a candle, the feel of a warm bath, or the sound of a good song. These moments of calm can also be created through the sense of taste. Moments can be built around the taste of a favorite food or the taste of a favorite beverage. Taste is a powerful sense we often take for granted but can bring us back to our childhood and connect us to those who we love.
Sometimes we may struggle to incorporate our sense of taste into these sabbath moments. For example it is easy to slip into bad habits and down our daily morning beverage without being mindful of what we are consuming. For some coffee has always been that beverage of choice. For you coffee lovers you might want to try a Chemex, which is perfect for enjoying more acidic or lighter coffees. These types of coffee can take on an almost tea-like quality. A Chemex forces you to slow down and mindfully make a cup of coffee. You can not just go through the motions or rush about your life with this method if you want it to work. This approach will also encourage you to browse through the top coffee flavors that you can get your hands on. It can be a great way to explore different tastes and expand your palate.
Finding the right way to prepare your morning cup can bring you a sense of joy and relaxation. It may seem like a small thing, but in today’s world, it is important to find happiness and peace in the little things. So find the best espresso beans and take a moment each day to make a cup of coffee or tea mindfully, savoring each sip and being present at the moment. It may not solve all of our problems, but it can help us find a sense of balance and mindfulness in our daily lives. Cheers to finding peace, one cup at a time.
For others tea has always been a beverage of comfort and wellbeing. If you have not found a tea you love yet, keep exploring. Tea comes in a wide range of types including Green tea, Black tea, Herbal tea, Oolong, White tea, and Fermented tea. You might also enjoy learning about tea ceremonies from around the world which celebrate the beautiful among the everyday. Creating your own tea ceremonies or following the ceremonies of other cultures helps you focus on the gifts of humility, restraint, and simplicity. Tea is one way to be reminded of the gift of simply being alive.
While you are enjoying the comfort of your cup of coffee or tea you should also consider where you are sitting. How can you create an environment that inspires you. If you have some outdoors space or a porch you might want to create space to enjoy your morning cups as the sun rises in the sky. If you only have indoor space you can create a sacred space which reminds you of the blessing a cup of coffee or tea really is. Or you can simply stand next to a window and look out at the world outside. Having the resources to be mindful shows you are blessed.
Being mindful and taking mini sabbaths over the course of the day is one way to respond to all the emotions you are suffering under. It has been and will always be easy to be overwhelmed and find it to be a struggle to find the beautiful, the lovely, and the inspiring. One way to do this is to turn the actions you do everyday into rituals which for a moment help get you out of your head and be grateful for all the blessings in your life.
