Hello World! Welcome Friends! Art has been a part of our everyday life. It is incorporated in almost every field and is appreciated in different mediums. Interior design is not an exemption. In fact, art has been in demand in the market. People are always on the lookout for new, fresh and trendy styles to fit in their houses. In that case, metal art has been taking on its spotlight and has been writing its name in the fields of design.
Metal art is the art created through etching, crafting, molding, or any artistic process that involves any ores of the Earth. The most common materials include gold, silver, bronze, tin, lead, and iron.
Metal Art Beginnings
Metal art can be traced as early as 7000 BC. Most of the ancient treasures successfully preserved were with the assistance of metal artworks and crafts. Hammered metals already existed long ago, creating crafts, beautiful pieces, and tools through these valuable ores. The artistic nature and the inherent urge to make have been very much existent ever since. And so, a lot of artifacts have been found in old cities proving the endurance and strength of such artworks.
As time passed, metal art has evolved and changed in many aspects, even adding some new sides and perspectives to it. It has expanded its scope not only in location but also in the fields it intersects. Now, metal art exists in so many spaces. It has been a crowd’s favorite when it comes to design as well.
Choosing the Right Metal Art For Your Space
Preference is one of the categories when we talk about choosing something in design. Another thing is the theme and style you want to achieve. The vibe is also something to consider in selecting the right metal art for a space you want to decorate.
- Self Expression – One of the reasons why people love doing, purchasing, and appreciating art is the expression that comes with it. In art, there is freedom of expression. It can create, and it can disturb. Therefore, in choosing what piece you want for your space, it’s beneficial to consider what you want to express. What do you want people to feel when they see metal art? What energy do you want to exude, and what message do you like to send to guests coming over? Or even just you. What do you want to feel when you look at it? Art is all about expressing. And so, when choosing the piece you want in a specific space, it’s essential to choose something or customize something that expresses what you want to say.
- Space – Art includes space. Space communicates. It’s also an important thing to consider. The size and the position of a particular space also communicate something. In a more practical sense, it also determines the price and how much work would probably go into your chosen design or metal art. The location is also in the scope of the category space. Where would you put the metal art? Knowing and finalizing the area is also essential. This way, a buyer can choose the best design to suit the location. Would it be in the living room, bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, etc.
Another thing is the angle and location of the metal art on the wall. Will it be eye-level or slightly higher than the other paintings? These are some of the things a customer should consider before purchase.
- Other elements inside the space – When you are adding metal art on a wall inside your home, office, or any area, most of the time, you have existing elements inside the room already. Therefore, there is a need to consider these existing elements. It’s totally up to the customer if they want to complement the already existing or perhaps, they want to change everything or mix everything up. Another thing is that most of these elements already occupy space on the wall. And so, the original area is minimized. It’s also helpful to visualize the desired metal art with the existing elements on the wall. When there is a more prominent figure hanged just beside the location you want for your medium-sized metal art, will they work together? In more direct talks, it’s a matter of aesthetic combinations between elements along with the buyer’s preference.
- Colors and Styles – Yes, one of the most important things to consider is the colors inside the space. To fit in your desired theme or aesthetic, the elements inside the room should match together. May it be cottage core, cyberpunk, antique, or any other theme, it’s ultimately essential to have your metal art matching your preferred theme or aesthetic. As art is an expression, it’s necessary to make sure the metal art is an added statement and a part of a whole. It should help in sending and exuding the message.
- Razzle Dazzle – This is the peak fun of designing and choosing. Giving your space the theme and style you desire is so much fun when you are willing to go out of the box. In art, there is no box. Art has no limitations. Therefore mixing and matching styles, colors, designs are so much fun to do. It would also be fun to experiment with new techniques like, for example, combining the traditional and antique with the latest and modern styles we know today. Designing your space combines a bit of razzle-dazzle, a touch of unique ideas, and ultimately just enjoying the opportunity to express yourself through art.
There may still be more things to consider in choosing the right metal art for your space. However, these are some of the more critical things to consider. Having these for starters will help in the possibly longer journey of searching and choosing. Aside from preference, research is also one helpful thing to help search for the right one. A buyer may not know what they want until they see it. Therefore, the journey of designing and choosing also allows for more exploration and knowledge about the subject.
