Hello World! Welcome Friends! We are one week into the New Year. How are you coming on those resolutions and projects? I am behind my planned schedule for a couple of projects, but I will not let that deter me from reaching my project goals. The objective is however, to get the projects completed and completed well! And, sometimes that just takes a little bit more time. You know the old saying, “Inch by inch, it’s a cinch. Yard by yard, it’s very hard”.
Before we jump into the party I want to share a bit of news with you. I have been a longtime reader of A Bowl Full of Lemons for quite some time. Other than Home Decor blogs, I have to say my other favorite type of blog to read is one about Organization and Cleaning. I get so excited when I see beautifully organized spaces that are squeaky clean. Okay, so here’s my story. Last week I was in my office working away on the blog, when I kept getting notification after notification that I had a new follower. I mean, it was rapid one after the other. Enough to make me stop working on my task and head to my site stats to see what was going on. Here it was, Tuesday, January 2nd, mid morning which should have been a slow traffic time for me, but it wasn’t. My page views had tripled what I normally get in a day by 10am!!! Why? Well, Toni at A Bowl Full of Lemons featured my Under the Sink Organization post at her monthly organizational party! I was so surprised!!
So if you missed that post and organization is on your list of things to tackle this year, click HERE to see how I organized the sometimes black hole of the under the sink area. Thank you, Toni and welcome to my new readers! I am so glad you are here!!!
Also, in case you missed the news, I’m bringing back our long, lost parties this week!
Before & After Wednesday
&
Anything Blue Friday
Both parties will go live at 8:00am on their respective days. I’ll send out an email this week at the start of each party. Over the next month, once I see who is really loving these parties, I’ll separate the email list out and only the ones who are really into these shindigs will get an email at the start of these parties. So, if you aren’t into these parties and only want the Make it Pretty email, just hang tight. Give me a month to see how these parties go so I can get the lists separated into each party category.
I’m so looking forward to seeing what you are going to share!! Now, onto the matter at hand.
Welcome to Week 237 of:
My Favorite
Katherine at Pender & Peony married Green and Gold to create an elegant Christmas in the Living Room. The blossoms mixed with velvet add a timeless look to her Traditional Southern Christmas.
Craft Queen
Whimsical decor is always on display at Penny’s Vintage Home and this Wood Slice Christmas Cake does not disappoint. Using wood slices combined with “snow fluff and crochet icing” and decorated with a metal house, deer and the ever festive bottle brush trees, Penny created the perfect centerpiece for her table setting.
Shopping Queen
Whenever I see delicate pretties on twine I regret not sticking with learning to crochet. My Thrift Store Addiction discovered this doily garland at a local church craft sale and mixed them with her Christmas greenery to create a Rustic and Romantic Christmas.
Sewing Queen
Decor to Adore set out to make and craft her Dickens Cloak and Bonnet perfect for the Dickens on the Strand Festival in Galveston, Texas. Be sure to pay Laura a visit to see how her costume came together and the lovely photo shoot. So whimsical!
Culinary Delight Queen
Glorious Baked Brie topped with glazed nuts and cranberries is guaranteed to make your mouth water. Served as an appetizer or a snack, it will certainly please the palate. This delightful recipe can be found at All That’s Jas.
Dessert Queen
Don’t let the season get away from you without making a Sugar Plum Apple Currant Pie. And, this one from Brooklyn Farm Girl looks so delectable! This flavorful recipe is a perfect addition to your wintertime menus.
Tablescape Queen
The touches of nature on this table setting from Nitka Design mixed with her gorgeous Gingerbread Cookies give it an air of simple elegance. Stop by to see more details of the table as well as the pretty Gingerbread Cookies.
DIY Queen
If you fancy using a decorative ladder for your decor and would like to jump on the DIY bandwagon, be sure to pay a visit to Hazel + Gold Designs to pick up Sheri’s in depth tutorial for making your own. The decorating possibilities are bountiful.
Home Decor Queen
I love Christmas Tree Decorating tutorials and this one from An Extraordinary Day is perfect. Diane gives a step by step picture of how she created this lovely tree, layer upon layer. Bookmark this to look at when you plan out your Christmas decor later this year.
