Sounds like a decision you certainly didn't want to make with regard to closing down your two other parties. Perhaps this change will provide you with an opportunity to focus on other ideas and contributions to your blog. Keep up the wonderful and dedicated work!

Thank you for hosting, Kathryn. You had some GORGEOUS features this week! I hate to see you closing your other parties, but you are so right. So many people are only out for self promotion. I appreciate all the time and effort you put in. I have only been blogging for almost 6 months, but I can still imagine the time and dedication it takes to keep all of these parties going. I will look forward to continuing to part on Mondays! Have a great week ahead.

I'm nit sure how you handled so many parties at all…one just seems like so much work to me and I always appreciate your hosting dedication. Thank you, thank you!

Thank you for holding your wonderful parties, Kathryn. So sorry to see 2 of them go but I certainly understand. I am one of the guilty ones though I try to but I can never find the time especially since our move. It seems like I am always organizing. I will try harder. Fabulous features, by the way…Christine

The sweatiest lady and hostess in blogland dear Kathryn. I've been a culprit lately and life does get on the way sometimes with things one cannot control and leaves us no time and mind for visiting. I try cause for me blogging takes my mind off some family issues and distracts me somewhat.
I appreciate all your parties and it does sadden me to see two go, but yes, you also need not handle so much in your life. I know you will contribute to share with us some all the wonderful things you do each and every week.
Thank you so much always for been such a giving, generous and supportive hostess and friend.
Have a blessed week sweet lady.

You are so kind Kathryn. Thanks for hosting and featuring so many talented bloggers. I know a lot of work goes into getting these parties ready. Your life is more important, so everyone should respect your decision. I don't know how you have done it for so long. Bless you.

I'm sad to hear that you're closing down your other two parties and feel the struggle in your words. Blogging sure has changed in the past year or so and it's become much more of a business which means the connection seems to be missing. When I look at my traffic sources, you can really see that people aren't bothering to visit each other at parties any more. A couple of years ago all of my visitors came from link party and now there are next to none. That whole virtual assistant thing, I guess. This is not a good trend 🙁 Thank you for hosting all of the parties and I'll see you each Monday.
Annie says
I have noticed the changes in blogging and link parties in the last few years, and those are not the good changes… It must be especially be sad for you, since you are the host. I still visit any post that catch my eyes, but I have cut back on participating the parties too, part because of this trend. Your party is one of my favorites, so thank you for keeping the pretty parties going! Have a wonderful week!

I've wondered how you could do so many parties every week…so much work.
Sorry you feel you have to give up a couple of your parties but probably for the best…
I quit linking to most parties for several reasons…one is that some parties got too big and too many links…when it gets two pages long, not too many see your link anyway…another is so many have too many ads and pop-ups…their blog rolls and loads slowly…skips and etc…just don't have time for all that.
Thanks for keeping Monday party going.

What a shame to stop those parties, but I understand your reasons completely and agree with them. Thanks so much for hosting Make it Pretty Monday, hope you have a wonderful week.

Kathryn you have been much appreciated. I want to thank you for speaking out. I am one person who spends most of my time going to other blogs and commenting because I want to build a relationship. Sadly others seem to only want page views. I respect your decision and look forward to lots of fun posts and projects from you.
Linda says
Kathryn- I'm guilt. I post but usually click on something that I want to save. I don't decorate at all anymore, in the process of downsizing. My blog is not for profit. The only reason I link in parties is to share recipes- just like in the old days when recipes came with love.
I'll try to spend more time on your blog.
Hugs,
Linda
Nourish and Nestle says
Hi Kathryn,
I'm a relative newbie 'blogger' trying to develop relationships and figure things out. This is my first visit to your site and your link party, but it's very obvious that you invest much of your time and yourself into hosting your party. I noticed right away the personal comments you make on each of the posts that you featured. Given the attention you pay to your 'party guests' I think it's very appropriate to ask to have a link back to your party and to ask that we all mingle with each other. Your Link Party does seem like a bit more of a bright light in the otherwise not so bright 'link party' rat race number's game.
Thanks for taking the time that you do and for offering the rest of the blogging world a friendly site to land upon once a week.

Thanks so much for featuring my Candy Bar Cupcakes! I keep being approached by people offering VA services and I'm just like NO! It's a lot of work every week, but it's my blog and I want to go through every party and make sure I'm doing what's asked of me. As a co-host of a party, we are also having problems with VAs. Sometimes it's a chunk of 100 links all added by a VA who then doesn't do anything else! So sad, but I agree with what you say. You may be getting your blog out there, but it may not be the best way! Thanks for hosting every week though! 🙂

Thank you for all the work in hosting this party! It's important to leave comments and it's great when you receive comments back from that person. Doesn't always happen, though. I love your party and all the inspiration that everyone shares.

Kathryn,
Oh, dear one, I'm truly sorrowful to hear about the linky party woes you've been experiencing.
However, I understand completely!!!
I've been looking for a few "new~to~me" parties to attend for just the reasons you stated.
My faithful followers are the ones I hear from on nearly each post.
Seldom to I hear from a "new" blogger about my posts, even when a featured guest!!!
The Land of Blog has changed since I first began.
It is difficult for some to leave a comment when they are use to a "click" in other social media!!!
I will continue to visit your lovely blog and want you to know I'm visiting today
to decide if Make It Pretty Monday is a "good fit" for me!!!
May your prayers concerning your linky parties be answered.
Fondly,
Pat

Thanks so much for the feature Kathryn, it is always very special to me! I know that the parties have been changing, and people are just not visiting anymore…I am guilty too, but try to always browse the entire party and visit at least two or three that interest me. I have limited the parties I link to based on the time convenience for me, as well as a few other factors. I hate to see blogging getting so competitive and complicated. Make it Pretty Monday has always been one of my very favorites, I hope you can continue. Thanks for the prayers and appreciation.

I am saddened that you are having to close your parties even though I just found you. I, too have a weekly link party and the atmosphere of these have definitely changed – I have quit linking to as many as I used to. It is sad that people do not visit the links but as you said the VA has changed the blogging world completely. Thank you for featuring my mantel this week. The weather has changed here and I am in need of Wilderness Wife's chicken vegetable soup today. Thank you for hosting and have a wonderful week. Cathy

So sad to have to close two parties. I don't link up to the big parties with 500+ links anymore because I know others are not visiting each other I never get any traffic from them and it is a lot of work to visit several in a party that size. I appreciate your parties and will link to Make It Pretty Monday while you have it. Thanks for all you do. Your features are always wonderful.

Kathryn, you are so generous with your time and support of other bloggers. I know your decision didn't come quickly, but substantiated by stats and your heart. I've seen ads for Virtual Assistants and have wondered what they are. Now that I know, I can see how they are changing the party structure. When I first started blogging I sampled many (too many) parties, but I gradually narrowed down my list. Whenever I have something to share, I go to you and just a few other ladies. You've featured some of my work and I am tremendously grateful. Each week I try to thank every hostess and comment on at least 2 links, more if I can manage. If you have any further thoughts on can be done in this changing world, please let me know. Lastly, thank you so much for hosting this week's party. Courage and love, Ann Marie at Iris Abbey http://www.irisabbey.com

That took a lot of guts Kathryn and I want to commend you on your bravery! I am saddened to see these parties end, they were part of my top 10. You have always been such a kind, gracious, supportive host (blogger friend) and this is not going to keep me away from visiting. Hugs being sent your way from Canada ♥

Well, you can tell that i don't use my Blogs as a source of income because i almost fell off the chair when I read "virtual assistants' REALLY??
I got into blogging to find friends and inspiration but the Blogging World has changed and many bloggers are only in it for the money and fame.
I must admit that I stopped linking up to blogs that host more than one party . I chose 1 party form that blogger and only one. I always felt funny constantly linking up all my weekly post to numerous parties on the same blog several times a week.
Make I t Pretty was the one party I chose on your site to keep linking up to and I am thrilled that you are keeping it!!
Hugs,
Deb

Hi Kathryn, As a new party hostess myself, I want you to know I appreciate all of your time and effort. I share your concern and agree that while blogging can be a source of income, that shouldn't replace common courtesy! There are some weeks I have more time to visit than others but I try to make it a point to catch up. Blessings, Cecilia

Kathryn, I'm sorry to hear that you have to delete Anything Blue Friday and Before and After Wednesday. I honestly don't know how you kept up with all your parties. I know that I couldn't have. And I'm sorry that I just didn't have time to visit them all. I love your Make it Pretty Monday party and what beautiful features AGAIN!! I love that table and chairs! So jealous !I don't even know why I have a blog sometimes because I can't ever compare to these talented ladies. I just don't have the time, money or energy to do what I'd really like to do. Maybe, when I retire I can do more.
Thanks so much for hosting. You are one of my favorite blog friends!!

Oh Kathryn, I am sorry to see your two parties go but am so glad you're keeping Make it Pretty Monday! There's a lot of hard work that goes into creating and maintaining linky parties and you have made yours so interesting, exciting and fun by labeling us in your features and replying to our posts, features and comments. You are one classy lady and I apologize if I don't spend enough time visiting others. I've never heard of virtual assistants – goes to show you I'm a bit behind the times, but I have noticed a change out there where groups of bloggers are having their own exclusive parties – so I thank you for continuing to host one that's open for all of us to participate in and enjoy!

Dear Kathryn,
Thank you for the time and effort you always put forth. I enjoy your linky parties so much and am sorry to see two of them going away. However, I understand. I have only been blogging for about a year, but when you featured me last October I was as thrilled as could be! Thank you for that special memory. It was a great moment in the life of my little blog.
Best,

Dearest Kathryn…
You are one of the kindest people I've "met" in my short time in the bloggersphere. I truly appreciate the work you put in each week, and understand fully your decision. Heck, sometimes I get so busy with my kiddos, getting a post up is difficult even though I've already done the photography! 🙂
Thank you for your positive outlook and for all that you do!
