Hello World! Happy Weekend. A little later on today I will show you two of the new lamps that I purchased for the family room, but right now, let’s talk a little bit about home maintenance.
When it comes to changing your furnace filter, it’s easy to forget this little task. You know that the filter is important for maintaining proper air flow, but you don’t always think to go switch it out on the first of the month. Here are a few tips to make it easier to remember the filter and keep your furnace in top condition.
Set the Alarm
Put a monthly alarm on your phone to replace the filter. Consider buying filters in bulk so that you’ll have one in stock when the time comes. Then you won’t have to worry about constantly forgetting to buy a new filter.
Get Yourself a Treat
Go buy a new filter on the first of every month and get yourself a treat at the same time. Consider it your little reward for giving your furnace the spa treatment. It might be a special treat from the bakery or something that goes along with your favorite hobby. When you’re also buying something you’ll enjoy and look forward to, it’s easier to start remembering the filter.
Buy in Advance
Filters are cheaper when you buy in bulk. Order several of them and leave them in a visible place near the furnace. Put a sticky note on the packaging with the date of your next filter change written in bold, bright ink. This will keep your furnace’s needs closer to the front of your mind so that you’ll be less likely to neglect the chore.
Tie it to Another Event
If you have pets, then you need to change your furnace filters more frequently. One way to remember is to change the filter every time you trim your dog’s nails. If you have another monthly event, like having your own nails done, then change the filter on that day. Making it part of another regular event will make it easier for you to remember this important chore.
Keeping a fresh filter in the HVAC system helps promote air flow and minimizes the strain on your unit. You’ll improve energy efficiency levels while helping to lower future repair bills. Keep a collection of filters on hand so that you won’t have to run out to the store at the last minute. Use these tips to remember to change the filter and gradually improve the indoor air quality of your home.
I think my favorite tip is the “buy yourself a treat”. LOL. Thanks for dropping by. Have a lovely day and remember to be kind to one another!
Joy to the Full!
