Hello World! Welcome Friends! You might be wondering whether or not your home and your family are being impacted negatively by hard water. If you do not know the signs, chances are good you do not even really know what to look for.
Luckily, there are some really simple tell-tale signs that you can look out for in regards to whether or not you are suffering from hard water in your home.
If you recognize one or more of these signs, chances are good you will want to look into how you can go about installing a soft water system in your home as quickly as you can.
Your Water Tastes or Smells Funny
One of the most common signs of hard water is that your water has a strange odor or taste to it. If your water has an unpleasant and metallic taste to it, chances are good that your water has too much iron.
If your water smells like rotten eggs, it probably has hydrogen sulfide gas or certain bacteria that are reacting with the magnesium to form sulfates in the water.
While this type of water isn’t necessarily bad for you, it is certainly more unpleasant to drink compared to soft water that tastes and smells great.
You’re Constantly Dealing with Stains
Another major sign of hard water is if you have brown or reddish stains on your bathroom sink, bathtub, or shower, or kitchen sink. While these stains are possible to remove with vinegar and some elbow grease, it is certainly much easier to just avoid dealing altogether by purchasing a soft water system.
Constant Soap Scum
Another big sign of hard water is that you are constantly dealing with soap scum. Soap scum occurs from hard water because soap and other cleaning materials such as shampoo and dish and clothes cleaners are much less soluble in hard water due to the types of minerals in the water. This can also lead to spotty dishes and clothes that seem either like they have not been cleaned or that they are caked in detergent. These are all super unpleasant things to deal with and take time and energy to overcome. Luckily, they are easy to avoid with a soft water system that will leave your bathroom and kitchen free of soap scum, your clothes clean and fresh and your skin soft and sparkling.
Clogged Pipes
This is a major thing to know about, primarily because it could be too late to save the pipe if you learn about your hard water late enough. The minerals in hard water can scale and buildup over time which can lead to major clogging. This can not only damage your pipes – which could require a full replacement if the clogging is bad enough – but can also damage your walls, ceilings, and floors if a pipe bursts and water leaks out. If you are sensing a depletion of water pressure in your home, you may want to get your pipes checked and you will definitely want to think about installing a soft water system.
