Hello World! Welcome Friends! Whenever real estate pros show a potential homebuyer a new property, obviously the first thing the buyers see inside is the entryway. This is the area that many developers like Louie Santaguida never overlook.
But unfortunately, some people don’t even bother to decorate their entryways properly. If you’re guilty of this, here are some tips that should rectify your mistake.
- Add a mirror. This is perhaps the first rule of entryway decoration. It’s extremely useful for homeowners. Think about it: before you leave, you can check your appearance and see if you have anything stuck between your teeth.
A mirror is also quite welcoming for guests. An entryway without one can feel constricted and suffocating. Even if you have a small entryway, a mirror can make it seem much bigger. It adds depth to the space.
- Install lights. This is the other mandatory element for an entryway. You don’t want guests to enter a dark entryway, as that’s too intimidating. Potential homebuyers won’t feel all that good either.
But it’s also important for you. You need the light to check your appearance in the mirror before you leave. Also, when you come home the light will let you back in without you having to fumble around in the dark. The best light will be bright during the day and low at night. If you’re putting in a hanging light, keep it high at about 1.5 or 2 feet above the head so people won’t feel confined.
- A chair or a bench. This way you can sit down when you remove your dirty shoes when you enter your clean house. Also, the chair is a place where you can let a guest sit when you don’t want them waiting in the living room. Just don’t get a seat that’s too big, as the entryway may feel cramped.
- Place a table. This may be the place where you put your car keys everyday so you don’t lose track of them. A large ashtray can serve well for this. You can also have a pen and paper available so you can make lists of what you need to do when you go out.
- Get some flowers. A nice potted plant on that table will look very good. An orchid or a vase filled with cut blooms will do fine as well. Flowers provide a touch of the outdoors for your entryway, so that it looks better and feels more natural.
- Have a coat rack ready. When guests arrive, they may need a handy place where they put their jackets and coat. Just keep it free and keep your own jackets in your bedroom closet.
Even if you’re not selling your home right now, you still need to pay attention to your entryway. It’s actually very easy to decorate it and it won’t require a lot of money.
Thank you for stopping by! Have a lovely day/night depending on where you are in the world! Go with God and remember to be kind to one another!
Toodles,
