Hello World! Welcome Friends! Many people find that the issue of money is growing particularly important in their lives. As the money belt tightens, you will find yourself starting to wonder where first to look to try and improve the situation. One of the parts of your life where you probably spend the most money is the home, although at first glance it might seem like a particularly tough challenge to be able to change anything about that. However, that’s not quite true – there are plenty of ways you can improve the amount that your home costs you. In this article, we will look at some tips for living a much more cheap and cheerful home life, and saving some considerable cash in the process.
Mobile Homes
One of the most common ways to save money on home life is to move into a place which will cost nothing in monthly regular payments. If you are struggling to make rent work, or you just don’t want to be trapped by it anymore, then you might want to think about moving into a mobile home. This is a whole lifestyle in itself, and one which is becoming particularly popular in recent years. For one thing, as we have said, you won’t have to worry about rent as long as you own your own mobile home. Secondly, the upkeep on such a home is bound to be much lower than what you are used to, which is only going to be a good thing. That in itself will make this a particularly attractive venture, but that’s not the only selling point.
For many people, a major reason to live in a mobile home is that it is actually pretty fun. You can effectively get out on the road whenever you want, and set up camp wherever you want. This gives you a freedom that most people will never have, and it’s no surprise that people enjoy it so much.
Narrowboats
Another similar mode of living is to buy yourself a narrowboat and live on the canals. Depending on where you live in the world, you may or may not have many canals nearby you, but most developed places do, and they are a great place to live. In some areas, there is a particularly well developed community of boat-dwellers who live all along a canal, and it is actually a much more secure lifestyle than you might think. You will generally have to pay for mooring costs, and to tax your boat, but beyond that you will have very little in the way of expenses. And if you are worried about the toilet or shower – don’t worry, there are, along most good canals, regular spots for you to pump out both, so that you can keep them operating well. You can also use a leisure battery to power your lights and whatever else you might need energy for. As you can see, this is a lifestyle which many people could get into and end up really enjoying.
Self-Sufficient Homestead
Probably one of the very best ways to live cheap and cheerful is to try for the self-sufficient lifestyle. In the best and most extreme examples, this literally means that you build a home yourself, which is designed in such a way so that it is going to keep itself operating without you having to rely on anyone or anything else. If you have ever stepped foot in such a home, you will know full well that it is likely to be particularly comfortable, and that these homes also usually have a particularly enjoyable and comfy way about them. But how do you actually go about building such a home?
First of all, you need to have a space to build it on, and that is probably the hardest to come by if you are in financial trouble. However, once you have that you can then work on building your home out of a material which costs you nothing, or hardly anything. That could mean building it out of cob, for instance, which is essentially just mud used in a clever and sturdy way. Or you might wish to be extra ecological and use recycled goods to build your home. Once you have done that, you can then power it in a green way too, using solar panels for instance.
However you do it, this is a great way to live – cheap and cheerful certainly, but also good for the planet.
These are all wonderful lifestyles which you might want to consider, if you are really keen on living a cheap and cheerful home life.
