Hello World! Welcome Friends! Don’t fall off of your chair! I’m here with a super quick update on the powder room progress and lighting details. I know, shocker! But, as I said last week, Hurricane Harvey really zapped my motivation. But, I’m back now in full swing ready to tackle that space as well as decorate for Fall…I know, I’m late. But, better late than never! Also, this crazy lady has signed up to do the One Room Challenge starting next week! Lord knows I love a deadline. So, before we jump off on the holiday train, I thought I would tackle my kitchen. Stay tuned for that post next week as well as the Fall tour I’m participating in. My day is on Tuesday, October 3rd! I do hope you will pop back in and see what I have up my sleeve for Fall.
But, today is all about the Powder Room and Lighting.
So as you can see we got one of the sconces hung in the little hallway off of the Master Bedroom. I specifically took the picture with the light on so you can get an idea of the pretty glow it casts when it is on. We are hoping to get the sconce above the stairs hung in the next week or so depending on Greg’s schedule and whether or not it is cheaper to rent or buy one of those ladders that are specifically used for stairs. Below is what the previous fixture looked like in the Master Bedroom Hall.
Since I love gold, I decided to go ahead and not take the safe route and keep all of the existing brushed nickel fixtures.
She really is quite stunning and weighty. I’ll list the resources down below in case you are interested in adding any of these beauties to your decor.
For the Powder Room, the triple sconce came in, but we are waiting to hang that one since I need to finish up the stencil as well as put in moulding. We are hoping to get to Lowe’s or Home Depot this weekend if time permits to purchase the wood for the chair rail and the moulding boxes below the chair rail. Below is the inspiration for the moulding.
I love just about everything Jennifer at Dimples & Tangles creates and this Powder Room is one of my all time favorites. Greg and I both love the moulding design so we might try to replicate it if possible. I also have a little secret to share. We have had a table saw for a couple of years and I have never used it. No time like the present!
Now for something a little special. A couple of months ago I discovered that one of my blog friends is quite the artist and I fell in love with her deer art. So, I commissioned a piece of artwork so that I could have my very own deer.
Isn’t he dreamy?
I adore the flowers in the antlers. This piece of art will go in the Powder Room once I find a frame that will compliment the decor and not take away from the deer. If you want your own deer, contact Joanne Boulter aka Anne’s Attic at her Etsy shop.
Oh, and I need to purchase a new mirror for the Powder Room. The original mirror had a mishap during Hurricane Harvey and shattered. Since I didn’t really like the frame, I decided that instead of replacing the mirror inside the frame, I would just buy a new frame or hit up Goodwill to see if there might be an ornate goodie no one else wants.
So, that about wraps up this quick update. Don’t forget the Fall tour kicks off next week as well as the One Room Challenge! Pray for me!!
