Ideas for Hosting a Family Reunion in the Fall

Hello World!  Welcome Friends!  One of the best things that you can do for yourself, your family, and your children, is to attend family reunions that allow you to reconnect with your extended family. If you’re thinking about hosting a family reunion, there are few times that are more environmentally appropriate than the fall. Not only does the cool fall weather invite people to gather together for indoor and outdoor fun, but proximity to the holidays makes it more likely that your family will find time to get together. Here are some suggestions to help you to plan the perfect family reunion this autumn.

First of all, you need to find a setting and location that will fit well with your family. Look for a location with proximity to enjoyable activities. You don’t want to get everyone together and then have nothing to offer for them to do. For example, if your family loves golfing together, look into a local Coral Gables golf course like Deering Bay Yacht and Country Club. Or, for example, if your family loves fishing and boating, look for an area that is near a river or lake. Try to pick a spot that is central for all of your family members.

Next, reach out to all of the people that you want to invite – give yourself plenty of time before sending out invites if you need to locate someone first, such as a distant relative or long-lost family member you are reconnecting with. Don’t rush ahead and make plans and reservations without talking to everyone first. Find out if your relatives are available and that they will be able to get to the destination that you have picked. If people have problems, listen to them and be open to suggestions. Be flexible with your options. This is especially true if you’re inviting people with kids to join you during the school year.

Finally, consider hosting a reunion on Thanksgiving itself, rather than at another time during the fall. This will make it even more likely that your relatives will be able to get off work and make it. If you host a reunion on this holiday, ask everyone to bring a dish and coordinate the food so everyone enjoys the meal.
