Hello World! Welcome Friends! They say that aspirational lifestyles are something for teenagers or young adults, but honestly, anyone at any age can have an aspirational lifestyle. On top of that, anyone can go after the life they want at any age; there’s no “cut off” age, and there’s no such thing as too late either.
So, no matter what lifestyle you’re after, your home needs to reflect this, too. You want to make your home dazzling; you want to make sure your home works with you and what you want to achieve.
Whether it’s luxury, elegance, a specific aesthetic, or just a happier and healthier space, there’s plenty you can do to make your home match your aspirations. It’s not just about aesthetics; it’s about creating an environment that supports the life you want to live. But where exactly do you start? Well, let’s find ways to transform your home into a space that screams, “I’ve got my act together!”
Declutter Like You Mean It
Sure, it’s boring, and yes, it’s super basic, but it’s the foundation of a chic and functional home. So, just go ahead and take a hard look at your stuff. Do you really need that old sweater you haven’t worn in three years? Or is that collection of novelty mugs taking over your kitchen? Marie Kondo, it up and keep only what sparks joy. You’ll be surprised how much lighter and more open your home will feel.
Choose a Theme that Matches Your Vibe
What’s your aesthetic? Are you into the minimalist, Scandinavian look with its clean lines and neutral tones? Or maybe you’re more about that boho vibe, with rich colors, textures, and a mix of patterns. Whatever it is, choose a theme that resonates with you. This doesn’t mean you need to overhaul everything at once. Start small – maybe with a new rug, some throw pillows, or a statement piece of art.
Basically, the key is consistency. Plus, whatever personal style or vibe you have, for the most part it can still go with whatever aspirational lifestyle you’re after. For example, if you want to live healthier, maybe you want to live by the mantra of the That Girl aesthetic; well, if you love Boho, then that’s totally fine. Just don’t think you need to settle for a style you dislike in the name of achieving the aspirational life that you want.
Invest in Quality, Not Quantity
Needless to say, we live in a world of fast everything – fashion, food, furniture. But when it comes to creating a home that feels luxurious and enduring, it’s worth investing in quality pieces. For example, you don’t want to live in a home that’s filled with nothing but IKEA, where’s the aspiration there? So, you’ll want to think of it as building a capsule wardrobe, but for your home.
Here are some other great examples to think about too; a solid wood dining table, a comfortable and stylish sofa, high-quality bed linens – these items might cost more upfront, but they last longer and add a touch of class to your space. Plus, you’ll feel a bit like royalty every time you sit down to eat or tuck yourself into bed. Now, all of these are merely examples, but examples that you should really think about.
Create Functional Spaces
Aspirational living isn’t just about looks; it’s also about how you use your space. You’re going to want to think about your daily routines and how your home can better support them. If you’re working from home, do you have a dedicated, inspiring workspace? If you’re into fitness, is there a corner where you can roll out your yoga mat or set up your Peloton?
Now, it’s just really important to understand that you don’t always have to have everything right inside of your home itself. For example, if you lived in a luxury apartment like Elle Residences, then you can use the fitness center (as most luxury apartments have these) to live a healthier lifestyle rather than cramming a home gym or equipment right inside your home. This, of course, is just an example, but overall, your home still needs to be functional, and yes, it still needs to accommodate that aspiring life you want to have.
Embrace Natural Light
There’s something magical about natural light. It makes spaces feel bigger, airier, and just more inviting. If you’re blessed with big windows, let that light in! Ditch heavy drapes for sheer curtains that allow the light to flow through.
For those with less natural light, consider using mirrors to reflect and amplify what you have. It’s a simple trick that can make a big difference. Besides, no matter what type of aspirational life you’re after, you can still count on natural light beautifully complementing it.
