Hello World! Welcome Friends! As a homeowner, you know better than anyone that renovation, design, and decor trends come and go on a yearly basis. And if you were to sum up how 2020 played out, it ended up being the year of indoor renovation and improvement projects as so many people were forced to stay home in order to help slow the spread of COVID-19. It was the perfect opportunity to do all those small and even large projects you never have time for, and then enjoy the results since you were at home.
So, that brings us to 2021, and the projects that will be trending. Now that you’ve got the inside of your home perfect, why not focus on sprucing up the exterior and really creating that oasis-like environment? To help get you started, we’ve got some spring project ideas that you may want to include in your plans.
Plant a New Garden
One of the best and easiest ways to add a pop of color and interest to the exterior of your home is to plant a new garden filled with lovely and bright plant species. You want to start by picking plants that will thrive in your particular sun/shade conditions and your soil type. Give thought to the size the plants will be once they are mature and provide ample spacing between each plant. It can be a good idea to use a combination of perennials and annuals.
Caring for your new plants will take a little work at first, as you want to be sure you give them all the basics they need to root and really take hold. Using the best watering practices will be essential in those initial days and weeks. This is also important during any times of drought.
Add Privacy to the Yard
Privacy can be another big factor for homeowners, as it’s nice to be able to go outdoors and feel as though you’ve got a sense of privacy. Increasing the privacy in the yard could be a top priority in the spring, and can be achieved in a few different ways.
The most common way is by adding privacy fencing, but if you’d rather you can use fast-growing shrubs and greenery for more of an organic privacy screen.
Create an Outdoor Seating Area
Of course, you want to be able to enjoy the outdoors and all the improvements you made, so creating an outdoor seating area is an absolute must. The type of seating area you create will depend on a few factors such as the available space you have, the budget you are working with, how big of an area you want to create, and how extensive of a project you want to take on.
Ideally you will want to have a flat hard surface to put the table and chairs on, such as interlocking, patio stones, or decking, which will also create that defined seating zone.
Each of these projects will help you to spruce up the exterior of your home in 2021, which will encourage you to get outdoors more and enjoy the fresh air.
