Hello World! Welcome Friends! Although the title says festive season, you can use this short guide to get your home ready for any celebration or to have a deep refreshing clean done.
A deep clean is such a great thing to do because it makes your home feel fresh and light and makes cleaning it in the future much less work. Of course, it only works if you keep it up and also even call in some professionals from time to time.
When we think about festive seasons, we think about houses filled with family and friends; we’re traveling around to see the people we love.
The festive times are often busy being social, and you might end up with lots of gifts, cards, and other things around the home.
Declutter
There is a particular joy in decluttering any time of year, but there is a festive joy when you do it in the run-up to Christmas. First of all, you know you get to celebrate with all of your loved ones for a few short weeks. Or, of course, for whatever other family celebrations you have in the year.
If you aren’t sure how to Declutter your home, one of the first things you can ask yourself is, do you use this item, and the next thing is, do you love it?
Many of us have so much stuff in our homes that we don’t use, so the run-up to Christmas as you prepare your home for the Christmas period is the perfect place to donate or sell those items.
Deep Clean
It’s time for a big deep clean, which involves removing the dust and grime that may have settled under and on top of your largest furniture items.
As we daily clean, we often clean around things and give other places a quick wipe down rather than move them. But you’re doing a deep clean; you’re going to get into all of the tiny spaces around your home and scrub.
A deep clean is incredibly gratifying, but if you can’t complete your deep clean yourself, don’t worry; you can hire a fantastic cleaning company to help you get the job done. After all, what’s important is how deeply it’s cleaned, not who does it.
And again, when you’re talking about big jobs like upholstery and carpet, you can hire the best carpet cleaning company in your local area, so you know that your carpet will be looking as good as new.
Extras, and Then Some
Not everybody has the budget to go to the grocery store a week before Christmas and be wholly stocked up.
And the same goes for other things like Thanksgiving, New Year’s, Easter, and any other big celebration your family likes to do.
So what can you do to make this easier?
Suppose throughout the year, start stocking up on staples. You can often buy joints of meat, delicious selections of vegetables, and a plethora of different potato products that can be stored in the freezer.
This allows you to have a little bit of breathing room in the run-up to the festive period, where lots of things sell out.
You might consider stocking your freezer with last-minute snacks. Small finger snacks like mini sausage rolls, cocktail sausages, jalapeño cheese bites, and any other small freezable snacks can come in handy too.
These stocks can be great when no one wants to eat a big meal or anything substantial after celebration meals – out are a little bit hungry for snacks.
Schedule
The big jobs shouldn’t be done on a whim. We’ve already covered a deep clean, but you need to schedule a day for that deep clean.
Since it does take a few hours or perhaps a couple of days to get the house gleaming, it’s something that should be scheduled into your diary. And likewise for things like preparing the garden, doing a big grocery shop, or if you’re making up beds for lots of visitors that should be scheduled into.
Don’t be afraid to protect some of these days to get jobs done.
You know you’ll feel much better when you have everything completed precisely to your standards.
Supplies
We’ve already mentioned making sure that you have enough snacks in your freezer so that you can cover all of the potential guests over the festive period or any other period that you are celebrating.
However, it’s not just those supplies you’re going to need; you might need extra plates and bowls, you might need extra cutlery or cups. Perhaps you haven’t quite got your festive tablecloth ready yet.
And if you don’t have enough blankets and pillows, if you do end up staying late into the evening as quite often the celebrations do, the people visiting you might not be as comfortable as they could be.
Visitors during the festive period due time fluctuate above and below the number that you might be expecting.
However, when you consider the number of people visiting you, maybe add one or two things extra on top just on the off chance that more people arrive. Think about comfort, warmth, food, and somewhere to sit.
Oh, and always remember to buy extra toilet paper.
Surprises
This tip is not just for your home but just for yourself. For extra visitors and all of the people you might forget to give a gift to over Christmas is as early as possible in the year, or whenever you’re reading this, start picking up small gifts that could be perfect for anybody.
The idea behind this is you don’t need to give a personalized gift to people that you weren’t considering gifting in the first place. Have a box filled with giftable items, that could work for your next-door neighbor, a friend that you bumped into and have agreed to have coffee before Christmas, or even the teachers at the school.
This will stop you from needing to run through a mental checklist in your head when you go shopping, instead of buying one or two small things that can be used for gifts and make space for them in your home.
