Hello World! Welcome Friends! Planning a day trip from New York to the beautiful Niagara Falls is an amazing way to spend your free time. It’s also one of those things that you’ll be able to talk about for years after you’ve gone. The best thing about planning this trip is that it can be done in any season, with only hours’ worth of planning. All you need are some friends or even by yourself making sure that your day goes as planned.
Where Is Niagara Falls, N.Y.?
Niagara Falls is located in Western New York State, right on the border of Canada. It’s about a one-hour drive outside Buffalo and only 90 minutes away from downtown Manhattan by car. Niagara Falls can also be reached by train or bus, making it accessible for everyone. You can buy a bus ticket from NYC to Niagara Falls to enjoy your road trip. You can also rent an RV. All you have to do is start your day by waking up early and getting on your way.
To have a memorable day ensure you plan your time well to visit these places:
Niagara Falls State Park
Located in western New York, Niagara Falls State Park is a great place to visit. The falls are on the Ontario and New York border, so you can easily cross Canada while visiting. There are many things for people to do at Niagara Falls State Park, such as hiking or biking along the scenic trails, taking a boat ride next to the falls, enjoying ice cream from one of the nearby stands, and much more. The park is dog-friendly, so you can even bring along your pup if they love the outdoors.
Niagara Gorge Trail
The Niagara Gorge Trail is located at the very top of the Niagara River Gorge. This trail is about one mile long and takes all different kinds of people. It can be not easy at some points, but it’s worth taking the time to go on this hike with friends or family members. You’ll get great views of both American Falls and Bridal Veil Fall along with an education about the Gorge which makes it an even more enchanting experience.
Terrapin Point is located on this trail, and it’s a great place to take photos. It also has public bathrooms if you need them before reaching the end of your hike.
Goat Island and Luna Island
While you are on your way to Niagara Falls, pass by Goat Island and also Luna Island. These two islands offer amazing views of the falls as well as a chance for people to explore. You can find trails that lead down into the Gorge, where you’ll be able to see everything from up close. It is one experience that everyone should have when visiting Niagara Falls.
Maid of the Mist
Another popular attraction is called The Maid of the Mist. This boat ride takes people right underneath/next to Niagara Falls. It’s one thing to see these falls from afar, but it’s an entirely different experience when you feel their misty spray on your skin next to them. The tour guide will provide you with a blue poncho. You can even go back multiple times if you want to. Boats depart from three different docks, but the main location is located right near the base of Niagara Falls. This boat ride also gives visitors an up-close look at the American and Horseshoe Falls, making it great for photos.
Top of the Falls Restaurant
You can end your day by having a fantastic dining experience at Niagara Falls, by eating dinner or lunch at Top of the Falls Restaurant. This restaurant has some of the best views that you can’t imagine, which is why people often want to come here for a special occasion. The food isn’t too bad either. It’s reasonably priced and well worth it if you want to have a good time and a delicious meal.
Top of the Falls Restaurant is open from May until September, so make sure you plan your trip accordingly if you want to eat here, making it perfect for those visiting Niagara Falls during those months. It’s located right on top of the American side, so you’ll need to cross over into Canada to eat here, but that shouldn’t be too much trouble if you have a passport.
There are many things that people can do while visiting Niagara Falls State Park, and all of them will be unforgettable experiences. If you plan on going to one place in New York while you’re here, make it this one because not only is it educational but fun as well.
