All one needs is patience, advice, and obviously a plan. Many house painters become overconfident and start painting all on their own with zero knowledge and end up regretting it in the end. It is always better to get some tips and tricks from the very best in the field. If you were about to paint a house and are looking for steps to paint like a pro, then this article has you covered. This article will guide you through how to paint a house like a pro in five easy steps.
Preparation
One can’t just start painting with color in hand, without proper preparation. You need to prepare the room and wall accordingly. One would find the need for wiping down the baseboards and walls. It is recommended to use a dusting mitt for walls and a damp rag for baseboards.
Patch holes
You may find many patch holes while you start to paint. The patch holes that one intends to not use further should be filled immediately. If you intend to hang a piece of art in the patch hole, then there is no need to fill that up. Otherwise, it is always a good idea to patch any holes found.
Tape the Baseboards
As discussed earlier, baseboards should be wiped down using a damp rag. You can also opt for frog tape on the baseboards around the room. Due to this, baseboards and floorings are protected if the paint runs down the walls.
Trim in the Room
It has been advised by the house painters to use an angled brush and cut it in the edge of the walls instead of tapping the door, window frames, or ceiling. Though this step requires patience as well as a steady hand this method is great when it comes to perfection. Moreover, it also saves a lot of time and you don’t need any extra equipment nor fancy tools.
Start Rolling
This is the step where rolling the wall begins. One would want to roll the wall from different angles making sure that they cover every inch of the wall. It is advised to roll the excess paint from the tray while dipping your roller in the paint. You would want the roller to be full of paint but not dripping with it. You should roll from left to right making sure that the coverage is even and is not leaving any space behind.
