Hello World! Welcome Friends! Air conditioning is amazing. It keeps you at just the right temperature, no matter what the weather is like outside.
Though air conditioning is common in many homes, not everyone has it. This could be due to a number of reasons. Perhaps your landlord hasn’t installed it, the cost is too high or you want to reduce your carbon footprint by using less power.
Whatever the reason, there are some great tips you can incorporate into your everyday life, that help cool things down on a warm day.

Striking the Right Balance
You want to be able to warm up your home in winter and cool it down in summer. Having an energy-efficient home is the first step. Contact your local insulation contractor to survey your current property insulation and ask what they would recommend when it comes to insulation and ventilation.
Buy a Mobile Air Conditioning Unit
There are many mobile air conditioning systems on the market now which can take the heat out of your home. They can cost anything from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars depending on the make and power needs.
Be sure to choose one that is as quiet as possible as that does not make a lot of noise.
Draw your Blinds and Curtains
All that beautiful sunlight is also heating up your home. Letting direct sunlight into a room can act like a greenhouse. Draw the blinds and curtains to keep things cool.
Change your Lightbulbs
Certain types of lightbulbs give off a lot of heat. If you have lights and lamps all over the house, it’s like having mini heaters everywhere. You can switch to specialist low heat bulbs to limit the temperature change they cause.
Cook and Wash at Night
Ovens, by their very nature, give off a lot of heat. Try doing the majority of your cooking at night when the temperature outside is lower. The same goes for your laundry. Washers are big pieces of machinery the put out a lot of heat when they’re in use.
Open your Windows at Night
You probably already have your windows open during the day in order to get a flow of cooler air through your home. By opening them at night, you’re letting in air from the coolest part of the day, which means your home will be much cooler in the morning and will take longer to heat back up.
If it’s safe to do so, open windows in multiple rooms to get the best benefit.
Switch on your Bathroom Extractor Fan
If your bathroom is upstairs, then turning on your extractor fan for a period of time every day can help lower the temperature. Warm air rises, which is why your upper floor is often hotter than downstairs. The extractor fan will remove some of this cold air.
Turn Off Appliances you Aren’t Using
How many things in your home are plugged in and switched on in your home right now. Five? Ten? More? Each one of these is giving off a small amount of heat, which really adds up. Turn off TVs, consoles, computers, and anything else you aren’t using. This is a good idea from a money-saving point of view too as you’re still using power just to keep all of these things in standby mode.
Use a Fan and Ice-Cubes to get Some Cool Air
It’s an old trick, but an effective one when the temperatures start to rise. Place a tray of ice cubes in front of a fan so that the cold air is distributed across the room by the fan.
Be sure that you don’t use too much ice and that it is placed in a suitable container so that when it melts, the water stays in the tray or bowl. Using too much ice or too shallow a container can be dangerous if water gets into the fan.
Get a Cooling Pillow or Mattress
Trying to sleep in a room that’s too hot can cause all kinds of sleep problems. Some people can’t sleep when it’s too hot or find that it makes them experience headaches, feeling groggy, and just feeling generally awful. There are a few ways to combat this if you’re looking for a good night’s sleep. Stay away from older types of memory foam mattresses that are notorious for trapping body heat. You can also invest in a chillow pillow, which is a cooling gel mat that you put in your pillow case to keep your head cool at night. There are also products like Chili Sleep, which used a specialist water mat that sits on top of your mattress to cool down the temperature to the desired level. You can control it all from a remote to the very degree you want it. Bliss!
